MAN OF STEEL: Richard Cetrone & Revard Dufresne Kryptonian Villians?

Yesterday, a Man of Steel lego set included a figure by the name of Tor-An. At that point the internet jumped to the conclusion that the character, which in the comics is a Kryptonian villain, would be in the film. Now, this wasn't a surprise to me as I already revealed months ago that Tor-An would be in the film. The character was listed on the leaked call sheet that I posted, which Warner Bros. later had us yank.

So, the only mystery left is, who is playing Tor-An? I'll defer to Comicbook.com on this matter, as they have a scoop about the actor playing Tor-An, and reveal another Kryptonian villain and the actor playing that role too.

"In fact, according to the source, Tor-An will be played by Richard Cetrone. In addition, to Tor-An, another Phantom Zone villain named Dev-Em will appear in the movie. Dev-Em will be played Revard Dufresne. Both Richard Cetrone and Revard Dufresne previously worked with Zack Snyder on Sucker Punch." Comicbook.com

TOR-AN - was a Kryptonian and a member of the military guild who had served under General Zod. Along with Zod, he was one of dozens of Kryptonians imprisoned within the Phantom Zone. When Zod and his followers were freed from the Phantom Zone, his second in command, Ursa, was charged with assigning five Krypontians as sleeper agents on Earth. Tor-An assumed the identity of a human entrepreneur named Carter, the CEO of the Empire Communications Network based out of Sydney Australia. - dc.wikia

DEV-EM - was a juvenile delinquent on the planet Krypton who became imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. Eventually he escaped during the 30th Century, where he turned over and became a teenage super-hero. He has been a member of the Interstellar Counter-Intelligence Corps and the Legion of Super-Heroes. - dc.wikia

Man Of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix. The reboot flies into theaters June 14th, 2013!

Any theories going around that Superman might ditch his Clark Kent alter ego?

Seriously, whoever comes up with Kryptonian names should kill themselves.

Looks like this movie is heavily influenced by Geoff Johns Last Son.

"Dev-Em was a criminal who was arrested for murder and perversion. He was taken to Fort Rozz for trial, where he was to be sentenced to exile in the Phantom Zone. Before the jailers could activate the Phantom Zone Projector however, a revolt broke out and Fort Rozz erupted into chaos. During the riot, the Phantom Zone Projector exploded and the entire prison, with Dev-Em inside, was transported to the Phantom Zone. For reasons unknown, Fort Rozz maintained a corporeal form inside the zone, while everything outside of it continued to exist in an unsubstantial ghostlike state.
Dev-Em eventually met exiled Kryptonian military commander General Zod and became one of Zod's followers. When Zod and his lieutenants discovered a means of escaping the Zone, Dev-Em elected to stay behind. Zod went to Earth where he battled with the son of his jailer Jor-El - Superman. He sent Superman into the Phantom Zone where he subsequently confronted Dev-Em.

In the Phantom Zone, Kryptonians do not possess any super-powers, so Dev-Em was able to physically battle Superman, and nearly succeeded in killing him but for the intervention of a sympathetic Phantom Zoner named Mon-El." - DC COMICS Database.

Hey this actually makes the movie sound a lot better and more interesting than before. Before it was starting to sound a lot like a Superman II remake what with Supes taking on 3 kryptonians- 2 being males and 1 being female and of course the main villain being ZOD. But adding 2 more Kryptonians to the mix just makes this seem a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE lot better and different thank God.

Plus the more villains the better. The more things for Superman to smash :)

Kind of odd that they would just hide amongst the humans as everyday citizens when they could have dominated the world themselves with their super human abilities.

Superman taking on General Zod, Faora, Tor-An, and Dev-Em?

I know i'll receive a lot of flack for this but i still think they could have fit in a cameo for Lex in this movie. Just a nice little set up at least. Oh well...

@LP4

We could still get a Lex Luthor cameo in the post credits. I don't think all these Kryptonians will escape to earth. My theory is these guys will be featured during the battle for control of Krypton with Jor -El's forces.

Zod loses and his guys are sent to the phantom zone.

Perhaps Jor-El left a means to escape the zone for Kal-El to use to restore the race if he thinks they reformed. Zod knows this and seeks to first recruit Kal-El to his cause then beat him into helping Zod free his forces.

In the past,we seen photos of a Lexcorp led reconstrution effort in Metropolis that likely takes place at the end of the movie. That would be the perfect place to show us the new Lex .

I dont mind Zod having few followers when he comes to Earth but they really should have add Jax-Ur there when they were on it. Alot more interesting character who has history working with Zod and Faora against Superman.
Kevin Durand would have been awesome in that role.

@blkyank- I sure hope you are right. People always hate on Lex but they fail to realize that IF a Lex Luthor even exists in this new film series, he'll be a totally new and different Lex. Not the lame land grabber.

Lex is cool. He brings dimension to Superman's world because he CAN fight Supes head on while wearing his battle armor AND he is an intellectual SUPERIOR to Superman.

Plus at the end of it all- Lex is a human. He represents all the bad traits of humanity- greed, corruption but also feels he is fighting for the GOOD of humanity- liberation from a powerful alien being thereby humanity can rise from the ashes on its own.

Lex is awesome. Just was never portrayed correctly or remotely well in the movies sadly. I just wish there would be SOME news update on the situation with Lex in this movie

WarnerBrother
WarnerBrother - 1/23/2013, 1:48 AM
@LP4

I share your belief that Lex is awesome. People who bitch about "too much Lex" often fail to see that Lex is not a guest villain like the various bat foes but a supporting character for Superman who should be just as much a presence as Perry White and Jimmy Olson. Lex is the King of Metropolis and prior to the arrival of Superman its most powerful citizen. You don't send Lex to Arkham like the Joker or Jail like the Penguin. You stand by helpless as Lex comes out smelling like a rose after unleashing Metallo or Bizarro on the city.

That is the true never ending battle, with Superman the alien, having so much respect for the system that he is unable to use his great power to defeat (for good)
a human who sees himself so far above his fellow man that does the very thing he accuses Superman of doing that is not holding himself accountable to the law.

Jolt17 - 1/23/2013, 1:58 AM
I'd love to see more of Superman's relations to Krypton, indeed, and so the inclusion of more Kryptonians into should be a very nice touch. Although I doubt they'll end up having a big part in the movie, but I'd say it's an indication to a more vast exploration of the character's Kryptonian background. We'll see...
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 1/23/2013, 2:01 AM
Oh, there's no Superman without a Lex Luthor, but after-credit scenes are becoming rather overrated, nowadays. They can always show Lex's/LexCorp's presence in the movie's universe the way Norman Osborn and OsCorp were established in The Amazing Spider-Man, and I believe that should suffice.

I don't mind them giving Zod more followers, but I sincerely hope that doesn't mean he's going to be reduced a Loki type character. Not that I didn't like Loki, he's actually one of my favorite CBM villains, but Zod's not Loki. Unlike Loki, Zod doesn't hide behind his followers. Zod would willingly go head to head with superman. I won't not see the movie because of this but I just think it'll will take away from Zod's impact.
