I'm really looking forward to this. I haven't seen a cool monster flick since CLOVERFIELD.

I don't like this new approach to Godzilla with the whole entire military feel to it. I think the focus should be on the actual monster itself not the humans. Look what Transformers did with this, it just makes your movie feel average and under unique. All I am saying is this should entirely be a monster movie about Godzilla not another boring military strategy film which is starting to look like now.

There has to be humans. Of course Godzilla isn't actually on set so there is no way of knowing if it is the focus or not.

I agree with you but it's too soon to characterize it one way or another.

@TheMysteriousStranger
How do you know it'll be military based? It's not like they can show you set footage of the monster. Besides, the originals had a lot of focus on the military anyway.

I'll say it again Godzilla needa to be wrecking shit, fighting other monsters and most importantly using that atomic breath of his, I dont want to watch a movie with Godzilla just fighting the over used, boring, repetitve and cliched U.S military.

@TheMysteriousStranger I think it will be more of a POV of a character during a godzilla attack, I dont think it will be a full on strategic Godzilla film, where you see the government, scientist's and co try to take down Godzilla, it will just be a soldier not knowing the full story and pictures of what's going on and taking orders from above

Remember, Cloverfield was a good example of a monster movie that focused on the human characters. Bayformers didn't really fail because of that, it was because Bay is an incompetent filmmaker and created boring, lifeless characters. Also, Transformers ARE a little different from monsters, because they have character. Not saying that Godzilla and the Kaiju DON'T have character, far from it (Look at Jet Jaguar's shit eating grin), it's just that the Transformers have VOICES and speak just like the humans. Not focusing on them is a REALLY dumb idea, but it can work for a monster movie like this.

why do they have to use the image of Godzillas eye from the crappy 1998 movie as part of the link to the article? That image with the Legendary pictures logo with Godzilla beneath it would work so much better. I hope this movie turns out so much better.

Hey! Mathew Brodwicks Godzilla was awesome for 98. It didnt go down hill until the whole, he's pregnant and giving birth to a Jurassic Park scene.

Can't really rag on the design considering Godzilla DOES look like a big muppet with fat lady hips.

I wonder if attacking a nuclear missile means that Godzilla's origins and motivations will still be based on atomic radiation?

As for the close-up of Godzilla's eye, that seems to be one of the only things (besides the phrase "Size Matters") about TriStar's movie that has become iconic, as I've seen it used many times (on THE SIMPSONS, on one of the covers for IDW's first GODZILLA comic, and even in Toho's GODZILLA 2000), although I agree that any reminder of TriStar's FRAUDzilla is unwelcome at this point.
