Hey Hey We're Pre-CGI Monkees! DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Filming In SF (Videos)

Filming of Matt Reeves' The Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes continued yesterday, this time in North Beach, which is better known as San Francisco's Little Italy. Actors were seen running around a desolate street wearing motion-capture costumes.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film climbs into theaters May 23, 2014

"So Bob. What do you do for a living?"
"Oh nothing. I just run around all day, on all fours like a monkey."

Do they have Cinnamon Toast Crunch in San Francisco? Cause I don't think I could live there if they didn't have Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I'd be hopping over cars like those gentlemen in the mo cap suits to get away from a city that didn't have Cinnamon Toast Crunch. how else could I get those eight essential vitamins and minerals that help make a complete breakfast? Carrots? Pssh

I know the last Planet of the Apes movie despite being a really good movie had crappy effects, but C'mon do they really have to spend all that extra money on Mo-cap to feed the actors egos. Perter Jackson's KONG looked Real. why the [frick] are they spending all this money just to make the Apes look less real?
