After Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) proclaims that he is Batman, he is put into a SWAT vehicle. Then a fiery obstruction forces Dent's truck to make an unexpected detour into a tunnel (the lower 5th). There, they encounter a garbage truck that quickly rams the SWAT truck's police escort. Joker (Heath Ledger) soon appears in a semi-truck, with a rocket launcher. When all seems to be lost, Batman (Christian Bale) arrives in his Tumbler. To help out he chooses to take out the garbage truck by ramming it. That fantastic effect was made possible by the miniatures created by New Deal Studios. They designed, fabricated, and photographed a 1:3 scale model of Lower Wacker Drive, the Batmobile, and the garbage truck.

They also worked on Nolan's last Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. As you can see in the first set of images below, they created the miniature planes from Bane's (Tom Hardy) prologue, and after Bane breaks Batman's back, Bane sets off an explosion revealing that his lair sits below Fox's applied sciences division, where he keeps the other Tumblers. That was done with the help of miniatures.

The Dark Knight Rises was directed by Christopher Nolan, from a screenplay written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. The cast included: Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John "Robin" Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul. The film is now available on DVD and Blu-ray!

Ive always liked how Nolan tries to use as much practical effects as possible. That chase sequence in TDK was awesome. Especially in IMAX.

I like Nolan's style of creating movies. His use of models before choosing CGI is great.

These are not the best CBMs ever, they are some of the best movies ever. I'm telling you, in 20 years, this is going to be the modern Indiana Jones trilogy, like Avengers will be the modern Star Wars trilogy!

When it comes to being a CBM I would say that the Avengers is the better CBM but when it comes to movies in general The Dark knight is a much better movie. The Dark Knight is one of the greatest movies of all time.

@Superbatsspiderman- I would agree that The Dark Knight is indeed one of the best films of all time

A mega classic...

Ask people about the best CBM of all time and the VAST majority of people are going to say The Dark Knight is number 1...

Batman Begins was the best of the trilogy in my opinion.
superbatspiderman
superbatspiderman - 8/18/2013, 1:52 PM
@Azazel1 - The Dark Knight is a much better movie but the Avengers is the best CBM due to comic book accuracy and having the comic book feel to it. The Dark Knight doesn't really feel like a comic book when the Avengers does.
Azazel1
Azazel1 - 8/18/2013, 2:00 PM
@superbats-I totally disagree. The Dark Knight replicates the feel of Year 1 to a T and as such is completely accurate..
Azazel1
Azazel1 - 8/18/2013, 2:01 PM
The Avengers is minor bush league

The Dark Knight is the majors...

@Bread, agreed, Begins is the much better "batman" story. The Dark Knight, while a better film from a technical standpoint, really did ride on Heath's performance. The non linear storyline, twist of his mentor being alive, Liam being the actual ras al ghul, and laying the groundwork for the "legend" aspect of Batman, all better batman stuff for a batman film, so Begins is the best in the trilogy honestly. The Dark Knight is essentially a mob movie starring the joker, with batman in a supporting role. Good overall movie, better than Begins as two films compared to each other, but honestly did not feel like a "batman" film. Begins successfully did that. Any way major point is practical effects triumph over CGI every single time.

@Doopie, I disagree, Ledger didn't make the movie what it was, the ideals and themes adding to the character study of the first movie made it. Ledger only portrayed his character to its fullest.
