Batman Begins: Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city. The Dark Knight: The follow-up to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves effective, but soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces Batman closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante. Heath Ledger stars as archvillain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast as Rachel Dawes. Returning from Batman Begins are Gary Oldman as Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. The Dark Knight Rises: It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Batman Begins is the best of the Nolan trilogy, and the second best CBM of all time behind only Avengers IMO.

I think bale was a good bruce wayne for BB because we needed a weak bruce to turned into batman but i didn't find him effective in the last two.

I do think Nolan's Batman could have worked and fit in the DCU if we pretended The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were not a continuation of Batman Begins. Batman Begins had more of a suspend your disbelief feel when compared to the other 2 in the trilogy. It felt more like a Batman universe and Batman being well... Batman. Not saying The Dark Knight and Rises were bad movies because they're not.

I adore Batman Begins. But don't tell me to believe it's in the same universe as TDKR. The difference is... Noticeable.

As the years go on, the more I think of BB as the best of the three.

Batman was actually more comic booky than the rest of th Nolan trilogy. Batman wasn't the Batgod, but he was dangerous enough to be cool. Can't say the same for the rest of the trilogy.

Can you elaborate on the "noticeable" difference? What was inconsistent?

Ugh....

Please stop torturing us by reminding us how good this incarnation was. I'm hopeful for the future with Afleck, but my first choice always was and always will be for this series to have continued on into the expanded DCU.

TDKR > TDK > BB

I can see why some of you like BB the most. It's all about Batman becoming Batman, and that's awesome especially for a Batman fan to see. But there is just no way Begins is a better film than TDK or Rises. I love it, and it's the 3rd best CBM ever imo, but to me there is a clear step up with what Nolan was doing in each film.

I like it cuz it had the most emotion and really explored Bruce and his trauma and what drives him.

As well as showed the best concepts of Batman. Being a legend and a myth, hiding in the shadows, scaring the shit out of criminals.

All of this which unfortunately, most of was lost in the second and third installment.

People like Batman Begins out of the trilogy because Batman was more like Batman. The movie had most of the iconic tropes that associated with Batman such as striking from the shadows, picking off guys one by one, using gadgets, using his bat imagery to scare goons, etc. These traits were present in the next two movies too, but not as frequent. That is why you hear people criticizing Rises a lot.

So as almost everyone here is commenting that Batman Begins is their fav Nolan BatFilm & how TDKR lost it... Blah Blah Blah!
Carry On....

I actually learnt something from this; & let me get out that Trilogy debate bullshit which will never stop!
Alan Horn was the Head of WB when he green lit BB, & he's the Head of DISNEY now.
Ofcourse he knows Nolan & has worked with him & as he's leading Disney into Star Wars future & Nolan going to space with Interstellar & Robinov out of WB as well; it could be that Alan Horn would just snatch Nolan from WB & let him make Star Wars, 8 or 9!!
If INTERSTLLAR is that kind of Space Adventure that is also in line with Disney brand!!

I didn't know that; & now I feel that CAN happen!
