Acclaimed French filmmaker Abdellatif Kechiche’s latest, based on Julie Maroh’s graphic novel, was the sensation of this year’s Cannes Film Festival even before it was awarded the Palme d’Or. Adèle Exarchopoulos is a young woman whose longings and ecstasies and losses are charted across a span of several years. Léa Seydoux (Midnight in Paris) is the older woman who excites her desire and becomes the love of her life. Kechiche’s movie is, like the films of John Cassavetes, an epic of emotional transformation that pulses with gestures, embraces, furtive exchanges, and arias of joy and devastation. It is a profoundly moving hymn to both love and life.

Director: Abdellatif Kechiche
Cast: Léa Seydoux, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Salim Kechiouche, Jérémie Laheurte
Writers: Abdellatif Kechiche, Ghalia Lacroix, Julie Maroh

Wow, this sounds amazingly boring. Great place to plug a love story on a CBM site. Yeah, I get it's a graphic novel, but one that would bore an action hound like me to tears. Give me action, and if it's lesbo action I prefer the internet.

This movie looks amazing and I find it kind of annoying that you made the title sound like this is some crappy exploitation film.

It really shocks and astounds me at the sheer ignorance and closed minds of the people on this site.

Those two actresses are beautiful and this movie looks beautiful too.
Just because they're not Victoria's Secret models and look like average ordinary people in love makes the story that more compelling.
Also, if you're looking for action just stick to those lifeless Michael Bay movie you probably rave about.

Graphic Novels aren't just for superheroes ...

@bropous The pictures of girls you posted are the kind you see in mainstream movies, because they'll get guys to see the movies. The casting directors know sex sells.

The thing is, this is a art/graphic novel movie, not American Pie. And maybe the actresses aren't as sexy as would like them to be, but I think they are attractive. The movie is about lesbian lovers. Their looks have no barring on the story.

As someone that loves women as much as you do, I expected better from you.

[email protected] 100%.....its a slow slow news day. Guess there isn't enough comic book movie news to keep things turning round. this is like that pink filler goo found in chicken nuggets....i luv lesbians....but it's funny that their not based off of any comic book. Unless this site is going to expand beyond its name, which is a good idea. "Comic Book Movies...and other Entertainment News"

I don't know what the BFD is.

Is this movie supposed to be edgy and groundbreaking because it portrays graphic sexual encounters between to girls?

TRY HARDER.

Some people (not everyone) here seem to think that every CBM needs to be either Superhero, Action, Sci-Fi or Horror but some of the best (and most respected) CBMs of all time include "Road to Perdition", "Ghost World" and "A History of Violence".

If something like this isn't your cup of tea then fine - it's not any of my business if you just happen to hate great things. Just have fun and enjoy your "Jonah Hex", "RIPD" and "Transformers" and stop trying to drag the rest of us down.

I for one, am looking forward to checking this out.

@bropous - This film is not designed to turn you on, it's not a porno. Clearly shows how narrow-minded you are if you can't appreciate a film about lesbian relationship without resorting to typical creepy internet tropes.

Ryden don't pretend you won't be tugging on the ol pipe when you get your own personal copy , but claim it's art and beautiful and that's why you own it. Typical Internet tropes...
