Schmoes Know's recent rumor; that Tim Burton is in talks to direct
Beetlejuice 2. They also confirmed Michael Keaton will be back as the ghost with the most.
Tim Burton’s involvement in “Beetlejuice 2″ is no longer a rumor, as he’s officially in talks to direct the sequel for Warner Bros., multiple individuals familiar with the project have told The Wrap. Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his role as the titular fast-talking, black-and-white stripe-wearing ghost with the most.
Several attempts to get a sequel off the ground have been tried before and failed. Even one involving Beetlejuice going to Hawaii. Thank goodness that never happened. The latest writer to take a crack at it is Seth Grahame-Smith, and by the sudden movement on this long gestating project we can assume he came up with something interesting. Keep in mind, Seth's last two screenplays,
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (produced by Burton) and
Dark Shadows (directed by Burton), didn't light up the box office. Thoughts?
