The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering along the way the skin-changer Beorn and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all - a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself - the Dragon Smaug.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, with Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins, and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. The international ensemble cast is led by Benedict Cumberbatch, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, and Orlando Bloom as Legolas. The film also stars (in alphabetical order) John Bell, Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Lawrence Makoare, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Dean O'Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt, and Aidan Turner.

Can December come any sooner. I'm really hyped to see this. Also the third film will be amazing, Andy Serkis said the battle in the third Hobbit movie will be larger and bigger than the battles in LOTR ROTK.

that was brilliant, love what they have done with Smaug's voice and that line was simply bad ass,

"I am king under the mountain!"

Great trailer, blows the first one out of the water if you ask me. But how about showing us more of the TITULAR DRAGON (and give him his own poster) instead of dwarves and superhero elves? :(

Aaahh that was amazing!!, Can't wait till december. Hopefully it shuts most the haters up.. I thought the first one was perfect!!, The less serious side of the book ( The Plate song,3 Trolls, Bumbling dwarves, Riddles in the dark )and the Added LOTR like Epic scenes ( Smaug taking over Erebor, The Mines of Moria flashback, Thorin walking down the tree to fight azog )... And for the people that didn't like the slightly goofy parts of the first movie, Read the Book and maybe you'll understand why it's in there, The Hobbit isn't anywhere close to how serious LOTR was

This was WAY better then I thought it was going to be. WOW! Also was that the Black Arrow being shot at Smaug I saw? I didn't think this movie would get that far. Cool!

@ Super12

I doubt Smaug will be shot down in this movie. It is pretty safe to say that Smaug will be killed in the third movie leading up the great battle.

@JoeMomma - see thats what I'd been thinking. And now that I watched it a couple times you can see its not a black arrow its a balista from the wall. Probably in a flashback to the attack on Dale.

@ Super12

Yeah it would be way toooooo quick for them to kill Smaug since they are stretching such little info into three movies. I suspect he will be brought down a third of a way into the final movie.

The Extended version of Unexpected Journey is a way better version, gives a whole lot of scenes a lot more breathing space with only 20 minutes extra. Still the shortest of all the movies.

This is the better trailer ever released at this moment,I notice a darker photography and less blur,a lot of better for me.
