TERMINATOR SALVATION: Designs For An Unused Black Terminator

The most interesting thing to come out of 2009's Terminator Salvation was Christian Bale's legendary meltdown on set, but it didn't have to be. Come see some early concept art for an unused black Terminator, that was created by conceptual illustrator, Miles Teves.

"This design was for a singular Terminator robot we referred to as the 'Black Terminator' or the 'Assassin'. He was to be a special robot dispatched to hunt down our hero relentlessly, much like the Terminators of the previous films. He was to be very tall, made of anodized, black-chromed, titanium, and to be outfitted with special weaponry. He was to be unique in some way, yet similar to the T-600. Here, in this drawing, I have borrowed elements from one my my favorite yet underrated robotic, movie villain designs, to try to give him a more interesting and menacing silhouette." - Miles Teves

In the aftermath of Judgment Day and the machine takeover, resistance leader John Connor (Christian Bale) must counter Skynet’s plan to terminate mankind. Rallying his underground street fighters for a last, desperate battle, he realizes that to save the future he must rescue his own father Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin). But the most shocking discovery comes with the arrival of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a mysterious loner from the past who challenges Connor with an impossible choice and leads them both on a brutal journey into the heart of the enemy.

Terminator Salvation (2009) was directed by McG, from a screenplay written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris. The cast included: Christian Bale as John Connor, Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor, Common as Barnes, Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Serena Kogan and Roland Kickinger as the T-800 Model 101 (Arnold Schwarzenegger's CGI facial likeness).
