It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises was directed by Christopher Nolan, from a screenplay written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. The cast included: Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John "Robin" Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul.

TDKR is a good film but a poor finale to Nolan's incredible trilogy. It's easily the weakest film. S that's a huge bummer. I remember being incredibly let down and not feeling tht same excitement I did watching The Dark Knight.

Hathaway was the one bright spot of TDKR well except for her saving Batman at the end that was irritating.

Oh and I know people give Hardy grief for his voice choice, but I actually liked it. Ok yes I found myself chuckling a bit at but I still like it.

"Theatricality and deception, powerful agents to the uninitiated. But we are initiated, aren't we Bruce?"

Hathaway and Hardy knocked it outta the park in that film! Catwoman easily stole the show whenever she was on screen, of course, but Hardy's Bane finally lived up to the character created by Chuck Dixon and Graham Nolan waaaaay back in the nineties.

There was literally nothing about that film I didn't love... With the exception of Matthew Modine's easily-dispensable Deputy Commissioner Foley. I could have stood to spend less time with THAT smug douchebag...

@AnnoDomini - I thought the same thing. Liked that little glimpse of bearded Batman.

TDKR was a great movie. It had unreasonable hype/expectations. TDK wad a great movie, too, but Heath Ledger's performance made that movie. Any other actor in the Joker role and TDKR is the better film.

Just like Christian Bale said in that article posted about his advice for Ben Affleck - it isn't about who is in the suit. The suit is the most important part.

Shit movie. Shit plot. Shit casting. Wish I didn't hate it so much, my copies of BB and TDK look incomplete without a 3rd part there, but my god I hated this movie.

I have absolutely no idea how people can say they hated the casting of Hathaway and Hardy. They absolutely nailed their performances. Say what you want about the actual story, but acting was not even close to being one of the flaws in this movie.

And this movie definitely doesn't deserve the sheer amounts of hate it gets. It perfectly wrapped up the trilogy, despite some flaws. We're all spoiled now but back before it came out, there had almost never been any decent 3rd movies of any trilogy. TDKR is easily one of the best.

Most of the complaints have to do with this Batman not matching up with your version of Batman (which is definitely not a flaw) or complaints about parts of the plot that: A) Probably wasn't meant to be taken so literally as some of you guys do or B) They don't spell everything out and trust the audience to figure it out and keep up or C) If you paid closer attention to the movie, they actually do provide answers to common complaints.

Great movie, epic trilogy, enough said.

Tom Hardy really looked menacing as Bane! Love it or hate it, So far The dark knight trilogy is the best in the CBM genre! Let's see who can top it in the future.
