NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO). Scott Franklin and Aronofsky of Protozoa Pictures, along with Mary Parent of Disruption Entertainment, will produce the film. The film will be executive produced by Ari Handel (BLACK SWAN), Arnon Milchan of New Regency and Chris Brigham (INCEPTION, ARGO).

Noah is directed by Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler"), and stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Anthony Hopkins. It floods theaters March 28th, 2014.

Why anyone wants to start a religious debate on a movie site is beyond me.

@Bravado persecution of religion is what makes people hold tighter to their religion. Indifference to religion is what will cause it to die away. I know from experience.. once devout christian, now agnostic.

What I'm interested by is what made Emma Watson decide to do the film.. I remember hearing an interview by her when she was doing Harry Potter saying that she would receive dozens of Bibles in the post from concerned christians, and then in another interview she was asked what book she would bring if stranded on a desert Island, she said two, one of which was the Bible. Quite interested in what her view is on the Bible/ Biblical accounts..etc

narrow minded people are a problem, not religion/atheism. it's funny how a lot of atheists see themselves as liberal and tolerant but in reality, they're just like all those orthodoxius religious people. ''let's persecute christians'' ''let's persecute atheists'' .. one and the same. TOLERANCE is the answer. so be tolerant and keep your ignorant bullsht to yourself.

I got a feeling this will... SINK at the box office.

Having read the Bible + quite a few Apocryphal books, a lot of it would make for some epic films, esp including books like Enoch that talk about the battles the tribes of Jacob were involved in.. very Troy-esque. Unfortunately no one would be happy with films like that, because non-christian audiences would pan it as a religious film, and christian audiences would pan because it would be fictionalising Biblical accounts

No pun intended, but "Amen", @rebellion.

That being said, I've never been one for biblical epics, but this is one of the 2014 non-CBM movies I most look forward to seeing this year.

@Bravado ... so persecuting religion is different than persecuting religious people...how exactly? LMAO. and i can see that you're not familiar with the most basic outlines of christianity so i'm not even gonna argue with you on that. but you just called all christians a 'horde of fools'. do you think it makes you look cool and edgy? i feel sorry for you if you do. this is the problem with people like you, start with the shit talk and when someone calls you out for being ignorant/disrespectful, they're fools. such logic. wow.

@Bravado, you're being a giant douche mate, and you sound like someone who has all his information on christianity from Atheists. It was incredibly small minded of you to say that "no one who professes to be a christian practices it." In my time as a christian I met PLENTY of people who were honest, and generous people who would give you the shirt off their back because of their faith, because they'd spend their early morning reading 1 Corinthians 13 and the sermon on the mount, and loads of other regular christian bible reading that is all about loving your neighbour and helping your fellow man.

Christianity can bring out some self righteous hypocrites, sure, and those are the easiest to spot, but it can also bring out the best in people, and for that I still respect those people's beliefs even if I don't share them.

Comparing it to racism.. I'm not even going to respond to that.

"and also because even then no one who professes to be a christian practices it."

@Bravado

Really? Are we really going there? Half the reason I generally do not engage in the comments section here on CBM is BECAUSE I practice it... You can call Christianity foolish, you can call those who follow it (like myself) fools, that's fine I couldn't care less, but don't sit there and say that "no one" who calls themselves a Christian practices what they believe because that's simply not true. Shame on you, sir.

@Bravado, of course there are secular charities and secular people can be good people, I never said otherwise. I never made a comparison of who are better people, christians or atheists... What I said was there are people I personally have met that are inspired by their faith to do good in this world for their fellow man. Again, you said: "no one who professes to be a christian practices it." that is a blanket statement that I disagreed with.

As far as the evils that are brought in this world because of religion, sure, I agree. I could even include a few more to your list. I disagree with organised religion, I think it puts people in positions of power and corrupts and causes more problems than it helps.

There are more important things than athiests and Christians flamming each other. Like catching tax dodgers like Jimmy Carr (above) and resisting the biggest shift back towards feudalism in over 200 years. And bashing DC of course. ;)
