Apparently during NBC's broadcast of the Winter Olympics there was a teaser for this
Heroes Reborn mini-series event. Yeah, I didn't see it either. Anyway, NBC just officially announced the event and are holding back all the juicy details, such as the plot and which characters are or are not returning.
“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”
The original series ran for four seasons until it was cancelled in February of 2010. The show got off to a hot start when it premiered in 2006. It was a "must watch," and even had that great tagline, “Save the cheerleader, save the world.” Everyone thing was looking up for Tim Kring's series about everyday people suddenly realizing they had extraordinary powers. Then the 2007-2008 WGA writers' strike knocked the thunder right out of show and when it returned it's sizable fanbase had shriveled up. Not to mention the show's writing and plot lacked the focus that the first season had. Let's hope Kring has learned from his past mistakes and
Heroes Reborn makes that quantum leap to set right what once went wrong.
