Film Sketchr has posted a fantastic new article that features an interview with costume illustrator Phillip Boutte Jr. and artwork that he created for Marvel's television series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. In the interview, Phillip discusses what it's like working alongside costume designer Ann Foley on translating comic book costumes for the television format.
Phillip Boutte Jr.: Ann's design process always starts with what is real and a lot of research. She studies the comic character's look, then turns to fashion and history to translate the character's look into reality. I really appreciate the amount of work she does to get a character just right. She also, very much so, cares about the source material which is a big plus on my nerd radar. She wants to know that the character will be recognizable to fans but she also wants to make sure they look like they fit into the world without being too over the top or too overly designed. She balances that nicely so it makes it easy for me to illustrate the characters that I love so much. I feel like the designs are always respectful and don't stray too far away from who the character is.

Just listened to an artist called Mayor Hawthorne. Dope tunes. I could see him doing the soundtrack/score for Luke Cage.

@0mega

Was Catching Fire really that good? Haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I kinda enjoyed the first. But I read the books a long time ago, and they really did pussify the movie.

DarkPhoenix got banned? I knew that video may do her in...a little ass was all it took? We see more in some of the cosplay articles...

I really like the show, but I hope in Season 2 the team gets some actual muscle. Not some dumb meathead, mind you, but a likeable GIJoe body-armored action hero type who isn't stoic (like May) or milquetoast (like Ward).

Guys like the grunts shown in the CA:TWS trailer are nowhere to be found in a typical episode of AoS. New Agents Garrett (Paxton) and Triplett are a good start, but they kinda come off as a**holes.

The last episode of AOS fell to it's lowest ratings, yet, coming in with a 1.7.

Get rid of these showrunners!! STAT!!

No disrespect to the admins or Big G, they did what they had to do.

I just wish she could've got comment wiped like has happened to countless others. But Big G wouldn't know what kind of user she was. She was awesome, a girl with a lot of comic knowledge, and able to deal with us idiots on this site. It's a sad loss.

As long as she comes back after serving her ban, we'll be happy. Hopefully one ban didn't scare her away. We can't afford to lose the insightful, fun women that use this site. They're a rare breed.

@nail

How long are bans anyway? Would it be a 3 month deal or something like that? I hope it wouldn't be permanent like LEVI.

DarkPhoenix most likely WAS NOT a 17 year old girl. Haven't you heard the phrase "on the internet, nobody knows you're a dog"?
It was just some dude who knew he'd get attention and get hit on if people thought he was a chick.
