Fox Release Dates For FANTASTIC FOUR 2, WOLVERINE Sequel & Mystery Marvel Film
BoxOffice.com reports 20th Century Fox has scheduled release dates for Fantastic Four 2, the next solo Wolverine film, and an untitled Fox/Marvel film. And, they updated their release dates for The Secret Service and their Frankenstein flick.
While everyone is still debating about Captain America 3 and Zack Snyder's untitled Batman/Superman film occupying the same release date, 20th Century went ahead and announced release dates for their upcoming slate of films.
According to BoxOffice.com, Fox has scheduled an untitled solo Wolverine film for March 3, 2017. This will James Mangold's follow up to The Wolverine which he tweeted, "I'm shooting the next Wolverine after X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27, 2016)." Hugh Jackman is expected to reprise his role.
While Josh Trank's Fantastic Four, which will star Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch), Kate Mara as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Miles Teller as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic) and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing), doesn't hit theaters until June 19, 2015, Fox already is planning the film's sequel. They plan to release Fantastic Four 2 on July 14, 2017.
Fox announced that an untitled Fox/Marvel film will be released on July 13, 2018. Yup, a mystery film. What could it be? Could it be a Deadpool film. Probably not. A July release date is prime real estate and calls for a safer bet than an R-rated Deadpool. It's more likely the rumored crossover film involving the X-Men and Fantastic Four. A chance for 20th Century Fox to blend and expand their cinematic comic book universe, just like Marvel Studios. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Another possibility was brought to my attention, it could be Jeff Wadlow's X-Force film.
Additionally, Fox decided to push up Matthew Vaughn's The Secret Service to October 24, 2014, from March 6, 2015. Their Frankenstein film, that will star Daniel Radcliffe, was moved from January 16, 2015, to October 2, 2015.
