As Gordon navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham’s criminal justice system, Gordon will confront imposing gang boss FISH MOONEY (Jada Pinkett Smith, “The Matrix” films, “HawthoRNe,” “Collateral”), and many of the characters who will become some of fiction’s most renowned, enduring villains, including a teenaged SELINA KYLE/the future CATWOMAN (acting newcomer Camren Bicondova) and OSWALD COBBLEPOT/THE PENGUIN (Robin Lord Taylor, “The Walking Dead,” “Another Earth”).

Cast: James Gordon played by Ben McKenzie (“Southland”), Barbara Kean played by Erin Richards (“Open Grave”), Harvey Bullock played by Donal Logue (“Sons of Anarchy”), Bruce Wayne played by David Mazouz (“Touch”), Fish Mooney played by Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith (“Collateral”), Selina Kyle/Catwoman played by Camren Bicondova, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin played by Robin Lord Taylor (“Another Earth”), Police Captain Sarah Essen played by Zabryna Guevara (“Burn Notice”), Alfred Pennyworth played by Sean Pertwee (“Camelot”).

GOTHAM is based upon characters published by DC Comics and is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Executive producer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist”) wrote the pilot, which will be directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the “CSI” series, “Nikita”).

Surprisingly I have found the leaked set pics to be much cooler looking than the official promo pictures.

Why does he look pretty? Would it kill Hollywood to not make everyone pretty especially when they're the bad guy? Hell that's my problem with Amanda Waller in Arrow, she was fat in the comics now because of the new 52 she's hot.

Meh. Still nothing exciting. Call me when they get rid of the JadaFish. She's going to ruin this show, almost as much as the terrible premise.

I would be excited for this show, but I'm not sure I can get over the rumored script problems. You just know there's going to be lines like:

"Hey, that Cobblepot guy looks just like a PENGUIN! Ha!"

Or:

"That little CAT burglar keeps giving us the slip!" The fact that she's stealing a gallon of milk in her promotional picture just makes it that much worse.

Ugh. Subtlety isn't going to be one of this show's stronger points.

I don't see the need for this show. I hope they just open up these characters for Arrow to use. If Gotham can show Bruce Wayne, then Arrow should be able to as well

It's never going to be easy to please us comic book fans when it comes to the origins of some of our favorite characters. So I really hope that the story focus is on the characters and their rich histories, that lead them to become who we know and love. As long as they can do that, I'm truly excited for this.

Fingers crossed.

@ SoundWave

I am not bugged about him being thin, this is a younger version of Oswald.
MercwithMouth

@Joe

But Penguin was never thin...

Oswald got the Penguin name in the comics as a child because he was short, fat, and waddled. Thanks to Batmaniac for that tidbit.

Yep, that's young Oswald Cobblepot....

I just want this show to be gritty... And I don't understand how that kid is supposed to be "training" to become Batman, unless Alfred is the one that's supposed to be teaching him...

Hey, that's an idea...

They'll have Bruce leave at the end of this season (or possibly during next season if it makes it) and recast the role with a slightly older actor playing post "league of assassins" period Bruce Wayne. Saying he left Gotham to finish his training. Then that opens up the possibility of Ben Mackenzie growing the "Gordon Stache" to play an older version of himself! Boo yah!

And my money is on Bullock getting killed in the line of duty trying to stand up to crime in Gotham, thus leading to Gordon becoming disillusioned and skeptical of a vigilante like Batman in the city. This show has serious potential! Let's just hope they get it right!

Man, I think I just hyped MYSELF on this show!

O! Please be good...

I'm still straddling the fence with this show. Pics look ok. I'm just not sure about a young Selina Kyle. A young Cobblepot should be extremely cool though, to see him rise in the ranks to a crime boss( I love gangster shows/movies).

As long as they keep it a Gotham city cop drama and not a Batman origin this will succeed.

maninfinesuit - 3/25/2014, 11:32 AM
Why the hell is it so close up?

I like him for the role. He may not be as pudgy as most of the detractors around here would like, but the hook schnoz does it for me. As far as the acting goes, Penguin doesn't seem a particularly challenging role to tackle. He'll do fine.
