CBM: What do you use as a reference for the Rhino costume?

Kelton Cram: Particularly Soviet tanks. Something the director had asked us to do.
CBM: The Rhino design strays quite a bit from the source material, was that decided upon early in the process?

Kelton Cram: Yes I believe so. The Rhino suit kept changing to alterations in the script. This is common in concept for film.

CBM: What was more challenging, designing the Rhino costume or the Green Goblin's glider?

Kelton Cram: Probably the Glider. It was a more complex order. The Glider had to move in certain ways, limiting what we could do with it. The Rhino suit had a bit more freedom to try new things.

CBM: Did you have to make sure the glider designs were aerodynamic, or was the look of it more important?

Kelton Cram: Yes it did need to be aerodynamic. The look was most important. Often times when designing technology that doesn't exist, rules of physics can be ignored.
CBM: What did you enjoy the most about working on this film?

Kelton Cram: I've always been a Spider-Man fan! Getting to take a crack at the villains was my favorite.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

Anyway, what was the first photo supposed to be?

In what world does the first photo looks like a Rhino?

RHINO does suck (pretty much like the Silver Samurai sucked in The Wolverine). But I hope he looks more like RHINO in the Sinister Six!

Wow so the Rhino could have looked even worse. Hated the guns and missiles and shit on him. Rhino doesn't need all that crap just his strength.

The franchise introduced cross species genetics, so why did they not go down that route with Rhino?

Not to mentioned with the size of those guns he would've slaughtered all of those cops at the end in a second.

Dane Dehaan was [frick]ing awesome as the Goblin even though he wasn't in it a lot. Rhino just needs to go away forever, I hated that dumb bastard.

@TonyChu
Exactly. The Rhino from the video game is better than the "Soviet tank" we got in the movie.

The Green Goblin designs look better than the movie though the hose seems unnecessary and detracts from the design. Remove the visor and have Harry's mutated face and that would have been perfect.

At this point its pretty darn obvious they had no idea what the [frick] they should do with Rhino.

So whoever designed the first one when he heard Rhino does he think that mean Gorilla because there is no way in hell that looks anything like a Rhino.

Ok so we kinda dodged a bullet there haha but seriously I dont get the fascination of Rhino having guns/rockets. He should well idk......BE AN ONE MAN LOCOMOTIVE OF DESTRUCTION. Heck one of my favorite artist did Rhino 100x more justice

I love the big Oscorp logo on Rhino's arm. I think all of the villains should have had Oscorp across their chests so we don't forget where they got their powers from.

I think their thought process on villain designs is just "throw a bunch of metal pieces together with no organization whatsoever!"

So are there any shots of what the Rhino suit actually does look like in the movie? I've only ever seen close ups of it where it doesn't really look like anything.

With the exception of one of those Rhino concepts, this is all amazingly horrible. That glider looks like really shitty scrap metal art.

I don't really follow this stuff that closely. Is "Kelton Cram" like the Sacha Baron Cohen of concept artists, or something?

LOL @ 0mega

I tried to warn you without sounding like a prick or being too biased. Spider hand was just an extension of that dumb scene in TASM where Connors uses his "good hand" to save THE WALLCRAWLER from falling.

Yeah this was garbage juice :)

Hopefully this movie [frick]ing bombs. Maybe then they will learn to stick to the [frick]ing comics. They learned their lesson with Spider-Man himself. I don't know why they didn't do the same with the villains. Terrible [frick]ing design and casting. I don't think anyone working on that movie can honestly say they are happy with the final look of the villains.
