Starring a small band of heroes -- Sabine, Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper -- Star Wars Rebels is set in a time where the Empire rules through fear and shrouds the galaxy in darkness. This trailer offers many new glimpses at sequences from the show, including the starship Ghost chased by TIE Fighters; young Ezra watching as a Star Destroyer looms overhead; Stormtroopers marching; a zero-g fight between our heroes and Imperials; and Kanan, a secret Jedi, assembling his lightsaber and preparing for battle. It ends, however, with an Imperial officer reporting to the Inquisitor -- the Empire's Jedi hunter, seen and heard here for the first time. Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and IV as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy and a rebellion begins to form. The series, executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman, is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD.

I think this looks good but still wish they would do a show that took place during the old republic. You would get a lot more Sith and Jedi that way and more gray areas between the two sides.

The producers/creators keep saying they want all new characters.

It also cheapens the original trilogy, Luke and Ben are the last of the Jedi, where were all of these assholes all that time? Did they really need a Jedi in there, couldn't they just had a bunch of ordinary charterers?

@Itcamefromplanetearh They already said that they acknowledge the importance of Luke being the last of the Jedi, so it's possible that Kanan gets the axe on this show and Ezra loses any desire to become a Jedi.

@ndwwrestler2, which would make this series entirely pointless, one more thing and I'll stop bitching. All the character designs are completely bland and uncreative, Inquisitor (stupid name)looks like the most generic bad guy ever, you would thought that in a galaxy with all the crazy magic and strange creatures they could something better..

@Itcamefromplanetearh Pointless? Not really. This is the suppose to be where the rebellion started. They'll probably add more people to the group (maybe more non-force users) and Kanan dies and becomes a rallying point for the small group to start a rebellion, I don't see that as pointless.

im really keen to watch this, animation is pretty sweet however i wish the animation was a bit more textured if that's the right word to describe it.

@itcamefromplanetearth Sadly, TFU is not cannon, which is a shame because I found it to be an interesting story.

I'll wait and see how Rebels turns out, but my hopes aren't high. It looks like they're doing to Star Wars what they did to Avengers:EMH by retooling the show for a dumber (not younger) audience.

There is too much crap in the Star Wars universe that even the people creating new content can't keep it all straight. They should only add new movies/shows if there is an actual story that is worth while to tell, not just to move the brand forward and confuse continuity. If there was a story to tell here, there would have been an episode 3.5

ACE-james gunn on twitter replied to someones question about when the new trailer will come out and he said it is not long now that we see a new trailer

also, the guys behind this show have said that while this show will not be as dark as clone wars, its tone will be closer to the original trilogy also people who are complaining that disney is gonna kiddify it or its gonna be childish...the original trilogy were kids movies, george lucas decided to go that route instead of making an adult sci fi film like 2001, he wanted to pay homage to the serials he grew up, he tch as a kid, the flash gordon serials so he made star wars
