International DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Poster Adds Floating Heads

Remember that awesome DOTPOTA poster from earlier on? Well this Spanish version just made it even more awesome by adding the giant, floating heads of Caesar (Andy Sekis) and Malcolm (Jason Clarke). Okay, not really -- but take a look after the jump for a giggle anyway.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film hits theaters July 11, 2014

Haha, the marketing department would somehow find a way to ruin a fantastic image for their poster. Why is Caesar faded and blurred, but Clarke is painfully photoshopped to look as close to the camera as possible, as if his disembodied head is about to jump out of the picture? This is just...weird.

It's kind of a bad thing that Photoshop was invented, without it there wouldn't be any shitty posters.

@sofo
I would've used a less literal translation. "El amanecer" is such a peaceful noun, while "dawn" has an ominous side to it.

Or to keep it as close as possible, I would drop the "el", as you said, and replace "del" with "en el": Amenacer en el planeta de los simios.

Which can be understood as both a noun and a verb an gives you a more "oh shit!" feeling. Like one day you woke up and bang! apes took over.

Frankly one of the worst posters I've ever seen in my entire life. WTF is wrong with Fox's marketing dept? The US version of the poster was just fine and they had to utterly ruin it with the (horribly Photoshopped) floating heads.

Average. I thought Americans were supposed to be the non-discerning ones, not us internationals.

Jason Clarke is awesome. Glad he's in this.
