Has Steven Moffat Been Offered A STAR WARS Directing/Writing Gig?

They're not sure if it'll be one of the films in the new trilogy or a stand-alone flick, but Jedi News reckon the man behind the likes of Doctor Who and Sherlock has been approached to helm, or write, a new Star Wars movie.

Jedi News are reporting that Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat is being eyed for one of the new Star Wars movies. In exactly what capacity that might be is unclear, as they say he could have been approached to be a writer, producer or director. If it's for one of the new trilogy installments it'd presumably be the final one which doesn't yet have an announced team aboard, but it could also be for one of the spin-offs. The site have been a pretty consistent source of info for these movies, though it remains to be seen if certain things they've posted will pan out -- so we'll have to take it as a rumor for now. But if Moffat was to take the reigns on a future Star Wars movie, we can't see too many fans complaining...right?

I don't like that there's gonna be a Star Wars movie every year. It takes away from Star Wars being an "event". But I'll still be at the theater for each of then that comes out

I sincerely doubt it.

Disney should however keep things a little more secret. They shouldn't announce 4 directors in the course of just a couple of months.

The last installment of the trilogy has Rian Johnson. He is doing both episodes 8&9 where he will write and direct them.

It's Star Wars night at the Pirates-Cards game in St. Louis. I think I saw yoss there drunk off his ass dressed as Princess Leia.

All Doctor Who fans would just hate the movie, even if it's great. Most of Doctor Who fans hate Moffat, even when he does something awesome...

I love that we're getting Star Wars every year! As long as the movies stay awesome I see no problem with it

I know it'll never happen, but I'm just saying...It would be really cool...If we got an animated Star Wars film by Hayao Miyazaki

I'd have thought advertising for the new series of Doctor Who, as well as writing for Sherlock Series 4 and its pre-production & then preparing for Doctor Who Series 9 afterwards would leave him pretty much unable to take anything else on as a writer or producer etc. but if it's true, then that's going to have a massive impact on his two shows, most likely delaying the production of the ninth series of Doctor Who, considering how Sherlock Series 4 has already got a designated time released for when it begins shooting.

I don't mind a Star Wars movie every year. I mean I haven't exactly gotten tired of these Marvel movies that come out every year.

I wonder if he will kill any beloved characters while contradicting pre existing character details for story convenience like in doctor who. Nah but if this is legit at least there will be engaging and fun stories. But bump this Star Wars every year idea.

This sexist prick needs to stay away from Star Wars.

@Doopie My guess? They're probably waiting to see how The Big Hero 6 turns out in the Box Office.

He's a great writer, I don't think he's directed anything. He'd make a great writer/producer for Star Wars. His run on DW has been phenomenal
