"Star Wars Rebels’ continues the epic tradition of the legendary ‘Star Wars’ saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship “Ghost.” Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes."

Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and IV as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy and a rebellion begins to form. The series, executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman, is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD.

Oyelowo definitely has the voice of an Imperial. I'm growing more and more confident in this show.

Guys go watch the video, there is some weird concept art showing Agent Kallus looking exactly like Thrawn from the EU. Possible connection?

@Unreal2k9 It's probably an idea they were throwing around, having Kallus look like a Chiss.

They should have just left out The Inquisitor and made him the main villain.

@EzioKenway1225 From what I've heard from the Inquisitor, it sounds like James Arnold Taylor, the guy who did the voice for Obi Wan Kenobi in the Clone Wars series.

But a lot of reports say that it's Jason Isaacs.

@ndwwrestler2 Jason Issacs (from Harry Potter and other things) is supposed to be voicing The Inquisitor. But god damn, making Kallus a Chiss would've been great. Plus that'd lead more credence to Oyelowo showing up in Episode 7 as his rebels character. Kallus must have some lasting effect on the series, but I can't figure out how.

A black dude playing a white dude. Regardless of voice, that just seems odd to me. Wouldn't the animators and "Rebels" team make him a black Imperial?
ndwwrestler2
ndwwrestler2 - 7/10/2014, 9:22 AM
@WelcomeBackFrank They probably decided on the character's look before they made a casting decision.

And when you think about it, it's really not that odd. James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader.

Kallus? Will the next villain be called E. Vil Guy?
ndwwrestler2
ndwwrestler2 - 7/10/2014, 9:44 AM
@DetBullock The next villain is the Inquisitor. And Kallus isn't such a ridiculous name when you think about the other names in the Star Wars universe.

WelcomeBackFrank - 7/10/2014, 10:04 AM
@ndwrestler2- True now that I think about it. I guess I accepted James Earl Jones' voice as Darth because it was so menacing, deep, and intimidating vs. a black guy playing a white guy.

I was very disappointed by the (Netflix) last season of SW:TCW, I really hope Rebels is good!

Anyone hear news if Ashoka Tano will be on Rebels?

@welcomebackfrank

is that supposed to be ironic racism? so what if hes black and playing a white guy. I think thats awesome. and hes not the first to do it. A character is a character. its not about race. its about his voice. and dont say youve never seen a white guy with a voice similar to a black guys cuz thats bull. a voice is a voice is a voice. theres hood speak which is what anyone from the hood can sound like theyre form the hood regardless of race.

get outta here with that man!

That dude looks rad. I'm a little excited for this show. Finally license to play in the original time period...

My side burns are identical to that in my passport photo. I did it to mess with the girlfriend and the customs dudes.
