Sounds Like Fan Bingbing Will Return As 'Blink' In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Although she only had a small (but memorable) role in Bryan Singer's recent X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing tells The Star.com that she is contacted to reprise the role of teleporting mutant Blink in the "next four" films.

Blink's teleportation powers provided some of the coolest visuals in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and although the character was actually killed (twice) in the future timeline, we know that Wolverine and co. altered those events at the end of the movie. Because of that we expected several future returnees for Fox's next X-flick, but if you thought Blink's relatively minor role meant she'd played her part and would now be sidelined, think again. While speaking with website The Star.com, actress Fan Bingbing confirms that she'll return..and not just for the next movie!

"I am contracted to appear in the next four X-Men films and it’s going to be really amazing,” she said through her translator. “In 14 years since the X-Men films started, this is the first time an Asian mutant is in the film. So, it’s going to be really interesting. In the comics, Blink is a Caucasian girl, so I was curious why Bryan wanted an Asian to play the role. He said that it’s time for Blink to make an appearance and, for her debut she has to be simply marvelous. It was an offer I couldn't refuse."

She's actually mistaken about being the first Asian mutant (there's Kelly Hu's Deathstrike among others) but perhaps she meant the first X-Man, as the other characters were all villains. Anyway, it'll be nice to see Blink zapping people about again in X-Men: Apocalypse I'm sure you'll agree. More at the link below.

I really enjoyed Days of Future Past and I'm hoping Apocalypse will be just as good, if not, better.

That's not the way these contracts work. She may be under contract for four more films, but that doesn't mean she has to appear in the next four films. By giving her a multiple film contract, it gives the writer the freedom to include her or not, but he's not required to just because she signed a five-film deal. She may never be in another X-Men film. Great example is Hugo Weaving with Red Skull. He signed a multi-picture deal and hasn't appeared since. But if the Russo Bros. wanted Red Skull in the next film, he's obliged to do it.

Only CBM I've seen so far this year, and it was incredible. For the moment, it's at #2 on my all-time CBM list. Fantastic movie.

Blink was a very cool character visuals-wise, and I can't wait to see her character expanded on. And she's hot as hell.

She was awesome in the few scenes she had. I'm curious as to how they would bring her back though, unless there are some scenes in the future.

Simon Kinberg confirmed no back-and-forth time travel this time

but that doesn't rule out a futuristic apocalypse-ruled earth

Simon Kinberg said now that the timeline is alter, characters that were born later in the storyline has changed

For example Angel could be born in the 70s now, instead of the 80s

@ alegendarypanda

Yeah but at the same time it wouldn't make sense, the timeline was changed in 1973, but Xmen apocalypse takes place 10 years later.
So that means if they appear in xmen apocalypse they would have to be 10 years old at most

I'm confused lol. Everything in the timeline after 1973 was reset, so that means she could only be born after 1973. Simon Kinberg said that the timeline alteration could have moved around birth dates, but that could only happen after 1973, because that's the point where the time stream was interrupted/altered. Angel could be in apocalypse, because X3 is non canon now, and they can alter his existence. It wouldn't be possible for Blink because of how they showed her age, and at most she would be like 10 years old in the next movie.

That made my brain hurt. I think they'll have Blink time travel or just switch up her birthdate. I just want this movie made.
