As the villainous guest stars continue to build up for season 3 of the CW's Arrow, Carrie Cutter (a.k.a. Cupid) may present the most unique set of problems for Oliver Queen (Steven Amell) yet. Amy Gumenick (young Mary Winchester in flashbacks on Supernatural) has been cast in the role, and according to EW the character will be just like her comic book counterpart -- "a lethal villainness with a dangerously obsessive crush on The Arrow." Says Arrow executive producer and creator of Cupid Andrew Kreisberg: “I always loved the idea of Green Arrow having a crazed fan,” When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last. Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character.” Arrow returns to the CW on October 1st, and Gumenick is expected to appear in the sixth and seventh episodes.

Awesome!

Seriously, I was doing an inventory of Green Arrow's villains a little while ago, and I was thinking that Cupid would be a great addition to the T.V. show! Sure, she'd probably only be god for a single episode or two (she does have a pretty shallow character motivation), but I'm sure she'll make for a great Villain of the Week!

Can't wait to see what else this season has in store!

This is why I have absolutely no problem with the villain of the week/ filler episodes. It creates the opportunity to introduce a wider scope of Green Arrow's villains, expanding the universe. Some villains only deserve a one or two or recurring episode treatment (the likes of lesser villains like Cupid, Clock King & Bronze Tiger) with no major focus, rather than the A-listers who can serve as big bads. (Deathstroke, Merlyn, Count Vertigo)
My only concern is, with so much of Green Arrow's villains showing up by season 3, I hope they leave enough for seasons 4 & 5

I kinda wish they'd get around to doing Onomatopoeia, but I have the feeling that they just can't get their minds around him too well... especially since they WANTED to use him in season one, but changed the character at the last second.

Still, it could work! Bring on Onomatopoeia, dammit!

HAH!

There;s an archer named Cupid that's a Green Arrow villain?
That's kind of cool although I don't know the character.

@AlphaAndDecima: I know. But I think saying that they were "respecting Smith's wishes" on the subject is a strong way of putting it; I think they just realized that Smith had a point, and that the character would be very, very difficult to translate into live-action. Without eliciting unintentional laughs, anyway.

Still, the character COULD still work, as long as they approached him the right way. It'd be a pain in the ass to make the conceit of the character not silly, but I think it could be done.

@Humperdink: Actually, Cupid's not an archer. She's a skilled hand-to-hand fighter with enhanced strength. But her logo is a heart with an arrow through it-- as in, she's been striken by love's arrow. So that's where the Cupid name comes in.

The Cupid story from the comics was pure shit and just dragged on and on and on... It actually made me drop GA from my pull list. I seriously hope this is a one-shot episode for this character.
