More (Possible) Major STAR WARS: EPISODE VII SPOILERS

This week, Latino Review's Star Wars news round-up article features details from a guy who claims to have read the second draft of J.J. Abrams' and Lawrence Kasdan's Episode VII script. A lot of it fits in with previous rumors, so beware of potentially MASSIVE SPOILERS

Dave over at Latino Review came across the following (purported) spoilers for Star Wars: Episode VII a while ago, abut now that some of the information provided has also been reported by several other sources, he felt it was time to share it. If this is on the level it confirms things like Luke's near 30-year absence, the female lead being Han and Leia's daughter, another lead being a Stormtrooper and much more. Plus, we have quite a few new and VERY interesting revelations too. This isn't confirmed of course, but since there's a decent chance at least some of it is accurate, have another SPOILER WARNING  before reading on.

>Leia is made leader of the Republic after her predecessor's death

>Han is a retired veteran of the Republic fleet

>Luke hasn't been seen in nearly 30 years

>the lead character is Han and Leia's daughter

>the other lead is the child of Lando, and either a male or female depending on who is cast

>the other lead is a Stormtrooper, also either a male or female depending on who is cast

>dialogue for these two characters is very rough in the second draft

>Luke has no known offspring

>The Empire still exists in the form of a number of loyal galaxies and are in a state of cold war with the Republic

>The Empire is simply referred to as the "Empire," and the Republic is referred to formally only once, as the "Galactic Republic;" no "New" anywhere

>There are no Jedi whatsoever, and people still speak as if they are extinct, with Luke being "the last of his kind"

>The main antagonists are an older student of the Emperor, and his apprentice

>The apprentice takes control of the power dynamic between the two pretty quickly...

>The Republic are excavating ruins on a neutral world for a weapon; the world factors into tense negotiations the Empire have had with the Republic, and is referred to as the "Sith Homeworld"

>Loredump: In the script, the Sith are a couple thousand years old, founded by an ancestor of Palpatine called Ruin; the apprentice in this film also goes by that name >the ruins within the Sith Homeworld are a control station; the planet itself is the weapon

>Luke saves the day at the end, but in a bad way; he has changed.

Lando's child could well be played by Lupita Nyong'o, since we've previously heard that Daisy Ridley would be playing the daughter of Han and Leia, and John Boyega is rumored to be playing the Stormtrooper, Also, is that a tease of a Luke Skywalker heel turn in the next movie? Again, we have no way of knowing if any of this will even carry over to the final film -- even if it is on the level -- but what do you guys think?

I've read not a single non-Press Release on STAR WARS 7 since it was announced. Going to continue my spoiler-free streak as long as humanly possible.

(Didn't read article. Do I get a cookie?)

"The Empire still exists in the form of a number of loyal galaxies and are in a state of cold war with the Republic"

I actually really like the sound of that. It makes you re-think the ending of Return of the Jedi...maybe it wasn't such a permanent happy-ending after all. Maybe it was just a temporary fix for a MUCH larger problem.

"There are no Jedi whatsoever, and people still speak as if they are extinct, with Luke being "the last of his kind"

Just another problem I had with the Prequels. The Original Trilogy made it seem like the Jedi were killed off AGES ago. Han thought it was insane for Luke to willingly try to become a member of such an outdated, ancient order...but the Prequels took place maybe 20 years before A New Hope. That'd be like talking about 1994 as if it took place generations ago. That never really added up.

@ SauronsBane

Well thanks to George Lucas he could not even backwards to get the timeline or story right......maybe him and Singer should have a meeting.

So no "New Jedi Order"? That sucks. Huge disappointment for me. I know their not following the EU, but I was really looking forward to Luke bringing the Order back.

The old order became too political. I wanted to see Jedi as the Galactic Guardians their supposed to be.

Haha yeah, Lucas and Singer must belong to the same club of directors that couldn't care less about continuity and making sure things actually make sense.

@RandyBobandy, Agreed! The RedLetterMedia reviews of the prequels hit this nail right on the head: part of what made the Original Trilogy so awesome was the fact that they knew when to restrain themselves and hold back. Every time someone pulled out a lightsaber, it MEANT something. It was a massive moment.

Compared to the prequels, where we got hundreds of Jedi doing superficially "cool" things...but there was no substance to it at all. It was overkill, IMO. If the new trilogy is more like the Original Trilogy and has less Jedi, it can only be a good thing.

"hope Luke does not turn evil that will ruin end of Jedi he was stronger than Anakin was and choose the light side over the dark what the point turning him bad now."

@Indy, Lucas was THIS close to making Luke turn to the dark side at one point in Return of the Jedi, so this wouldn't exactly be anything new.

Not true because he's the one playing the Stormtrooper. I think it's a different actor.
