Is Joe Russo Teasing A PUNISHER Cameo In CAPTAIN AMERICA: TWS?

The director is probably joking around a bit here, but he does point out an interesting easter egg in the Captain America sequel that seems to have slipped by most of us. Was a certain Marvel vigilante driving a certain truck during a couple of pivotal scenes? Click on for more..

Coming Soon caught up with Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo at Amoeba Music in Hollywood California, where they were on hand to host a special signing event for the home video release of the Marvel sequel. After joking around with Joe about his own cameo in the movie as one of the surgeons working on Nick Fury, the director brings up another interesting appearance (well, his vehicle anyway!) from, what sounds like, an established Marvel Comics character.

When Nick Fury is being attacked in the streets, he gets the moment he needs to escape when a yellow Penske truck slams into his attackers. Later, when Agent Sitwell is thrown into traffic, guess what hits him? Not just a Penske truck, but the Russos reveal, the very same Penske truck. "The man who drives that truck," Joe deadpans, joking that the driver is a candidate for a future Marvel One-Shot, "Is very highly trained. He thinks on his own terms. He's got a plan and a very specific skill set."

The Punisher isn't mentioned by name, but there aren't that many Marvel characters who'd fit that description and would be so ready and willing to take a life! Again, it sounds like he's messing about as far as the One-Shot etc goes, but it's pretty cool to think that ol' Frank Castle might have had a hand in both rescuing Fury and taking out Sitwell! I'm sure many of you will be going back to watch your Blu-rays and DVDs of the movie to double check this..I know I am.

It was Aunt May. She has a very specific skill set: Poor eyesight and bad reflexes. She also stole a Penske truck soooooo............her nephew needs to talk to her.

He could just be teasing with us that it's a well trained stuntman! Everything here is purely speculation.

I'd love a Punisher one shot, but they still need to do a TV series.

I just checked the scene where Winter Soldier throws Agent Stillwell into oncoming traffic, and he is hit by a truck. Where the Nick Fury chase scene had a fully yellow Penske truck, the second scene is a white yellow cab with white back. Different vehicle.

Plus, it would have to be perfect timing for The Punisher to be there when this happens. And wouldn't he be trying to take out the Winter Soldier anyway if he is driving towards Cap and Black Widow?

My pleasure to help out. I had just rented the WS again from Redbox last night. So what timing!

It's a very interesting scene, where the first of the big battles between Cap and Winter Soldier takes place. So you didn't have to twist my arm to go back and watch it again.

Now, for that Winter Soldier DVD contest.

It better be like the Punisher by Mitch Gerads and Nathan Edmondson. Most realistic version of him... That and they're Howling Commandos need to have their own show. That or mini series.

So, Punisher collaborated with Nick Fury, even though we see Fury didn't call him, to be going through the intersection at the exact time that Fury needed, and then later, collaborated with Winter Soldier to be going the opposite way down the highway when he threw Sitwell out of a moving car.

Or the Russos were making a joke.
