UPDATE: First Look At A 'Chrome Trooper' From STAR WARS: EPISODE VII
We've heard that there would be a black/silver variation on the classic Stormtrooper armour in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, and now Indie Revolver have provided our first look. There's also a new rumour pertaining to Adam Driver's character. Second pic added!
Indie Revolver have been on point when it comes to giving us some awesome first looks at images and concept art from Star Wars: Episode VII, and their latest exclusive is a doozy. Below is our first glimpse at the much-talked about Chrome Trooper.
Pretty cool I'm sure you'll agree. Though this chap appears to be robed, apparently they won't wear hoods in the actual movie, instead a "metal collar stands up from the torso armour and curves up on the sides before dipping down again at the back." We don't have any official information about these variations of the Imperial Stormtroopers, but the site also report on a rumour that suggests they may not actually be affiliated with the Empire at all, and instead will be used as hired guns for Adam Driver's character.
"A couple sources have expressed that the chrome troopers are a private security force for Adam Driver’s character – silver mercenary rent-a-cops rather than true Imperial Forces for Adam Driver’s character. While we’ve not heard this from anyone directly, the most abundant rumor about Driver is that he’s a wealthy aristocrat with an interest in Sith artifacts."
If he's a collector of old-school artifacts, that might extend to ships and uniforms and could explain why we saw his character in that classic-style Rebel Pilot gear. What do you guys think?
