RESIDENT EVIL TV Series In The Works

Variety report that, along with a Mortal Instruments show, Constantin Films are planing to launch a Resident Evil tv series after the sixth and (apparently) final movie in the lucrative franchise. Will Milla Jovovich reprise the lead role of Alice? It's a possibility..

It seems we just can't escape this franchise. After the next Resident Evil movie, German production house Constantin Film is planning to put out a TV spin-off. No word on whether it'll use the same cast/characters, but since Constantin also produce the films it's definitely a possibility. A show based on Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes is also on the cards after the big-screen adaptation of the first novel in the series, City Of Bones, bombed at the box office. Filming on the next Resident Evil movie ("The Final Chapter") was delayed recently when star Milla Jovovich announced that she was pregnant, and there is currently no release date. Will you be glad to see a tv show? Or were you hoping this next film would be the final nail in the Resident Evil coffin? Sound off below.

The movies are crap so I don't expect the TV series to be any good.

Nah, I'm joking. I don't care. I think I saw one of the films once, but I don't remember which one or what I saw. Alcohol made sure of that. They make ya immune to shitty entertainment.

@RorMachine

How drunk do you have to be to enjoy the movies?

You will die from alcohol toxicity before you find these films enjoyable. Try weed. It won't make you enjoy them much more, but you'll be too lazy to reach for the remote and will be forced to watch the whole film.

The nail in the coffin was about 5 movies ago but for some f*cking reason some people didn't get the memo and kept watching these pieces of sh*t. And then they call them these little cute names like "My guilty pleasure" or "My dirty little secret" . . . . . .GTFOH . . These movies are sh*t and should be treated as such.

They already ruined Chris, Leon and Barry.

Gotta wonder who's next.

This is the perfect example of what not to do with a franchise. They took it and went their own way but not in any good way. If it had been more like TWD, with a focus on the horror, it would have been perfection. But instead, we get this techno, glossy twist that ruined what it could have been.

shit dude... look at the walking dead... if this is a reboot. then they could make the show like the games finally. for gods sake. the first game takes place in a [frick]ing house. how hard is it too [frick] up?

@grif

From what we saw of the first film, apparently, it's pretty easy to [frick] up.

I love how there's such reverence for the stories in the games. You really must've stopped playing after 2, come back for 4, and then left the series alone if you think they're so pristine.

That franchise has been gobbling on its own tail and gotten so impossibly entangled in its own convoluted continuity, it makes Metal Gear look coherent.

Paul W.S. Anderson and Len Wiseman are the biggest [foo foo]s in Hollywood...

By saying that though, Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure of mine and I also liked Resi: Apocalypse (only due to the inclusion of Nemesis). And with Len Wiseman, I actually enjoyed DIe Hard 4 even though it doesn't live up to the original. Aside from those films, these guys seriously need to STOP.

Or, more so, let go of their wives...

Do it only if its a reboot and on a network like HBO and follows the games. Mortal Instruments belong on the CW with other shitty YA franchises like the Vampire Dairies and Arrow.

I'd knock Milla Jovovich up again if it'll stop her from making these movies for another 9 months.

Won't take care of the little sh!t though.

I hate to break it to you but the games have become more like the movies and Capcom is currently imploding because of it.

If X-Men has a chance to be done properly on tv, why can't Resident Evil? Just keep Alice the [frick] out of it.

The only good thing to come out of this series:

Everything else from Alice to Claire to Wesker are downright stupid.
