COMICS: Marvel's Latest Event Revisit Is ARMOR WARS

The latest "Summer 2015" teaser from the Marvel mystery machine is Armor Wars, depicting a distraught Tony Stark and several of his Iron Man suits blasting the crap out of each other and New York by the looks of it. What the heck is going on? Your guess is as good as ours..

After Secret Wars, Civil War, Age Of Ultron VS. Marvel Zombies, Years Of Future Past, and Planet Hulk; the latest classic event to be revisited by Marvel next Summer is 1987's Armor Wars storyline by David Michelinie, Bob Layton, Mark Bright, and Barry Windsor-Smith. As with the rest of the teases, no other details are known at this time, but the theory is that they'll all wind up tying the new Secret Wars event by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic.

This could be pretty cool. If all of the revisits all tie in to something. Like an over all Deja Vu event or something...could be cool.

Is that...a Galactus armor? When the f*ck di he make that and where has he been hiding it?

Also I kinda like revisiting old stories. Especially when they're throwing a twist in. When they revisited the Age of Apocalypse no one seemed to mind and we got some decent stories out of that. So I'll wait and see. I'd love to see War Machine and Rescue vs Superior Iron Man in Armor Wars.

All these events must be a Secret Wars tie in. Will the events of Secret Wars change what happened in these events? Or at the end will we get a reset and everything back to status quo? We've already seen that heroes will be battling heroes from other timelines, dimensions, times, etc. This could be very interesting. What will the Tony Stark of the Civil War era think about "Superior" Tony Stark? Or a young Thor seeing the current "unworthy" version of himself? This story has so much potential. Still curious to see how all these revisited events will be handled. I'm assuming as tie ins, but 1 issue each? More? Because that could make for s MASSIVE a story and tons of books to buy.

If anyone is getting pissed off about this then they need their head examined. Seriously.

How do you as a fan get mad over teasers? Think about how dumb that is for a second.

Those of us with a functioning brain and don't suffer from the patience of a child are enjoying the teasers and waiting for the time when Marvel chooses to give us details. You know, because these are fairly cool and they aren't hurting anyone.

@Rulk

World War Hulk was good, Civil War was a complete exercise in utter retardism by everyone involved and is easily one of the stupidest events of all time (and not in a good stupid way either) while Secret Invasion was them [frick]ing around in the god damn Savage Land (the most boring place in all of fiction) for 80% of the story before remembering there's an actual plot going on.

I don't think this can be a 616 cross-over event. Probably just a big event in the Invincible Iron Man title.

@TheRealRemyLebeau

A good point, still doesn't change the fact Marvel should be banned from doing events for the next decade cause I am royally sick of them and their mostly bad quality as of late but a good point nonetheless.

I dont know why people are upset about these teasers. Im really excited about all the stories theyre retelling with new characters, writers and artist onboard. Its a brilliant idea to get people who just started reading comics to buy/read and get familiar with the old classic stories. Ill be happy with whtever they do

I hope that these aren't just repubs and they actually use updated art and dialogue.

At first glance I thought the Statue of Liberty was shooting lasers out her eyes, like "really, Marvel?"

At least the Hobgoblin comic looks decent.

I have a feeling this is all coinciding with the MCU...

Honestly, what I think they are doing is retelling Civil War and other stories in comics so that fans will not get as pissed off when the movies barely recognize the original Civil War.

The MCU does not own the rights to, has not introduced, or have drastically changed many characters that are needed to tell the original Civil War story accurately. So, they are going to reintroduce the story and other stories in ways that will justify the changes made in the films.

So, when the Civil War movie does not have Wolverine chasing down Nitro, or Spider-Man revealing he is Peter Parker, or the Reed Richards creating an android Thor, Marvel can say "No, the movies are based off of the re-told comic version, not the original version."

I could be totally wrong though. So far Marvel has not cared how far it strayed from the comics because they say it is a different universe. However, Marvel typically changes the 616 universe to more closely resemble the movies after they are released, like Tony's personality, Nick Fury having a black son named Nick Fury, Hawkeye not wearing his purple and blue suit, ect... So, I just see this as Marvel wanting to pre-empt that process.
