First AGENT CARTER TV Spot Officially Released

We saw a low-quality version of this earlier on, but now Marvel have released the very first official footage from their upcoming TV series, Agent Carter. It's only a few brief shots, but you can see the lovely Hayley Atwell and co. in action after the jump.

ABC presents its second action packed series from the creative minds at Marvel in “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” inspired by the feature films Marvel’s "Captain America: The First Avenger" and Marvel’s "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter."

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy - the only person he can trust - to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy.

If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

Sounds like an intriguing premise. Agent Carter will be with us in 2015, and stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa, Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley, Lyndsy Fonseca ("Kick-Ass," "Nikita") as Angie Martinelli and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark.

So happy this will only be 8 episodes. It avoids the pitfalls of Agents of SHIELD season 1: there's no time for filler episodes and wheel-spinning. You have to establish (and re-establish) the characters, set up the overarching plot, and jump in. Everything has to be tight, concise, and focused.

As long as the writing is up to the task, I can't wait!

Hannibal is a network show, isn't it? That's only 13 episodes a season. Some networks may be into going with that FX, HBO, etc are doing.

Great minds, dethpillow =P

@EzioKenway1225, Yeah I'm actually rewatching the first few episodes of season 1 (I only made it 5 or 6 episodes the first time around, but I figured I'd give the show another chance), and it's...okay. It's really inconsistent so far. Lots of good ideas, but most of the early episodes just give off the impression that the writers really didn't know what to do with the show before it caught up to the events of The Winter Soldier.

I kept hearing it got a LOT better towards the end of season 1, so I was convinced to catch up with it. In fact, I keep flipping back to the episode tonight, hoping that I catch that Age of Ultron clip while avoiding spoilers haha.

@ScottMontgomery

It was loaded and offensive to both men and women.
Can't people just make a strong female character without making a big deal about it? Seriously, just let it happen so hopefully the media will assimilate

It looks halfway decent (better than Agents of Shield) but are they basically going to market this with "Sometimes the best man for the job......it a WOMAN!"? That's kind of pathetic in it's own right

i think this will show us the amount of effort they are putting into the netflix miniseries. miniseries tent to look better and the pacing is better cause its not as long as 22 ep seasons.

Here is a movie that had a fantastically badass heroine, and they didn't remind you every 5 minutes that you should be surprised there's a woman kicking ass. This was in the 1980s, no less.

It's a good thing that this will be only 8 Episodes there for it won't follow the Agents of Shield route where ratings have been declining and rising and has been running out of steam. No offense but no one wants to watch a show on background characters in a much bigger universe, unless your in to that sort of thing.

If Agent Carter took place in 2014, some of you guys would have a point with the 'sexist' claim, but considering it takes place in 1946 ("in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts"), I'm reading the promo blurb as specifically referring to the constant sexism she'll be facing in the series, not "Wow! It's a female show in 2014!!"

AOS is proof of a CBM related MCU show with more than a few strong female characters in which their gender hasn't been made an issue.

@dethpillow I'll keep that in mind! I just watched "The Hub", and the biggest problem so far is the fact that they keep dragging out Coulson's revival/resurrection and the mystery of Skye's parents. While I'm actually interested in Coulson's story, I literally couldn't care less about Skye. That's where the writing needed to be stronger - making the characters interesting and likable. I'll stick with it though!
