GOTHAM: It Seems 'Gordon' & 'Dr. Thomkins' Will Be More Than Just Friends
Will Jim Gordon and his current fiancée Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) part ways in a future episode of Fox's Batman prequel series? Unless the good detective plans on cheating on her, that's exactly what actor Ben McKenzie suggests in an interview with The Daily Beast..
We found out recently that another character from Batman lore, Dr. Leslie Thompkins, would be debuting on Gotham soon and Serenity's Morena Baccarin had been cast in the role. In the comics, Thompkins was an old friend of the Wayne family and acted as an ally and confidant to Bruce on many occasions; but it sounds like she'll have a slightly different role in the Fox TV series. During an interview with the Daily Beast, Ben McKenzie reveals that Jim Gordon and Dr. Thompkins will be hooking up at some point, stating: “they just hired Morena Baccarin on Gotham to play my love interest, Dr. Leslie Thompkins." Pretty cut and dry wouldn't you say? Gordon and Barbara Kean's relationship has been strained on the show of late, but this definitely suggests things will soon get even worse. Of course in the comics Jim eventually settles down with Barbara and they bring the future Batgirl/Oracle into the world, so perhaps they'll sort things out...or, Gotham plans on taking yet another pretty big liberty with the established comics canon.
