In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarceration, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory. In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what normally takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a dark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.

Seventh Son is directed by Sergei Bodrov and stars Julianne Moore as Mother Malkin, Jeff Bridges as Master Gregory, Kit Harington as Billy Bradley, Jason Scott Lee as Urag, Ben Barnes as Tom Ward, Djimon Hounsou as Radu, and Alicia Vikander as Alice. The movie releases February 6th, 2015.

Weirdest thing...listening to Pandora at work, on shuffle and Iron Maiden's "Moonchild" from the album 7th Son of a 7th Son was on right when I click on CBM.com and saw this article first...hmmm, is it a sign? Damn, Iron Maiden has a song called "Deja Vu", maybe next...haha

This type of production never seems to do well. Looks much like Percy Jackson or I, Frankenstein type quality where the wardrobe, Score, cinematography, CGI, and basic storytelling are generic and forgettable. Still...I will rent it for giggles with my littles on bluray.

The book is awesome but this has almost nothing to do with it, it looks like typical shit like 47 Ronin or Snow white and the Huntsman...

this looks pretty bad IMO: the dialogue sounded atrocious & the acting looked pretty bad (big name cast=good cast). I will admit to feeling jaded after the maleficent/huntsman/dracula crap we've been subjected to recently, but I have absolutely no interest. I would put serious money on the writing being heavily laden with exposition and establishment of a universe without much payoff in terms of actual plot.
If I'm proven wrong I'll be happy, but I'm feeling particularly cynical tonight

My favorite Iron Maiden album!

I'm slightly disappointed this movie isn't based on the Orson Scott Card series (...which is what Maiden based the album off of). It's pretty badass. Alvin Maker is awesome.

And Antje Traue too?

Yup, I'm seeing it.
