THE DIVIDE Actress Marin Ireland Also In The Running For JESSICA JONES

In an update to their previous report, Deadline have added Marin Ireland's name to the impressive list of actresses that are said to be testing for the lead role in Marvel's 13-part Jessica Jones TV series. Apparently she only became available after her WE legal drama series The Divide was cancelled. Ireland has also appeared in the likes of Law And Order, The Following, and Homeland, and well as movies such as Revolutionary Road, I Am Legend and The Manchurian Candidate. The show will be based on Brian Michael Bendis' Alias comic series, and will deal with "a superhero suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes." Out of these 5 actresses, who do you think best suits the role?

Wonder what it's like to have a last name that is also the name of a country.

This character should not look like a supermodel anyway..that's why I have reservations about DaDario.

Considering this wont be on network television, I wonder if they will have Jessica Jones be a smoker.

I'll ask the less obvious question....can she act?

I never seen her in anything.

@Jordanstine

Alias(Which this show is based on) was when Jessica Jones settled down in her life and retired as a Super Hero. So it makes sense to get someone who is in their mid 30s.

Jesus people in this site are so fixated on a person's (that's right.. a PERSON) looks that I think I'm mad at myself for expecting "a little" more from these users.
Anyways it's too early to tell who is good for the Jessica Jones role. I think Marvel or whoever will pick the right actor and let's hope for the best.

I'm not sure who should play the role. Its a no for Krysten Ritter for me. She has a staple personality as an actress. Daddario is a beter actreess IMO. I'm unsure of her as well though.

Jessica Jones never really caught my interest and neither did Luke Cage, all i ever thought about Luke Cage was that he had invulnerable and impenetrable skin but there is a fan base and a following for these characters, so credit to Marvel for giving comic book fans what they want.

@ Inhuman

No more race swapping. We need to bring actual superheroes of different ethnicity to the big and small screen. Race swapping characters is just a lazy cop out at this point.

We actually need more race swapping.

Too many white superheroes taking up the screen.

Nope. I've seen her in some stuff and I don't think she is right for Jones at all. She's a good actress, I just don't think she's dynamic enough to carry a show and hold her own in Defenders.

Krysten Ritter! And if not Daddario I guess.

I also love Allison Brie for Jessica Jones.

Also, this isn't 'Post Alias' (that was The Pulse). This is based on Alias. She's gotten away from Purple Man and set herself up as a PI. Alias was her as a PI. Then she was a reporter for The Pulse in the title comic.

@Lozzy

But this gal looks like she's 40.

No to this old looking gal.

Going from 27 year old Alexandra Daddario, to 34 year old (but looks 40) Marin Ireland is a leap.
