The Script For Guillermo Del Toro's JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Movie Is Complete

When the planned Justice League Dark adaptation (tentatively titled "Dark Universe") wasn't announced along with the rest of Warner Bros.' DC film slate, fans wondered if the project was even still alive. Well, you'll be happy to hear that it most certainly is!

We've been hearing about Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro's Justice League Dark passion project for quite some time now, but because the film-maker always seems to have so much on the go/in the works at once, a lot of fans began to get the feeling it night just be wishful thinking and would never actually see the light of day. Updates were always fairly positive, but when we heard that NBC had a Constantine series in the works, and then Dark Universe wasn't a part of WB/DC's recent movie slate announcement we all wondered what the heck was going on with it. Now, Guillermo del Toro has confirmed to Forbes that the completed screenplay went to weekend reads at Warner Bros., and depending on the studio's reaction to it, in a few days we could have an official announcement that further steps will be taken to get Dark Universe into production. What do you guys think? Looking forward to seeing the likes of Zatanna, Deadman, Spectre and (possibly) Swamp Thing on the big screen? Or are you not that pushed what with all of the other DC flicks coming our way? Sound off below.

Sometimes it feels like Guillermo Del Toro is Hollywood's #1 heartbreaker.

I bet they won't be smart enough to connect it with the TV show.

If Del Toro can't direct it, give it to someone else, give Del Toro a screenwriting and producing credit and let Del Toro direct another DC film.

@ComicsBornAndBred

Well this movie can exist in a sub-universe of the DCCU like it does in the comics. Shazam is easy. It's a superhero film that may connect to JL.

Yes! Also, WB already said they have an entire slate of Vertigo films they haven't announced yet. I imagine that they are waiting on the development on this movie before they announce anything.

@Jollem

God, I want to see Zatanna in live action played by Alexandra Daddario.

If I remember correctly it has been mentioned that this will not be part of DC universe. I wish it was but apparently studio wants to keep it separate. There's same kind of rumors about Shazam too, I hope they aren't true.

They would be stupid to NOT make it part of the Universe. Marvel is doing Dr. Strange and he is definitely going to be part of it all over there. These are CBM's. These don't have to be like regular films. One of the best things about comics is the interconnectedness of the characters. That at any time the Flash could show up in an Aquaman story or etc, etc. Why would you NOT make it part of it all and ride the wave that is building and building?

This will likely be announce along with Sandman and the other films apart of the Vertigo slate yet to be announced, WB going full steam ahead with their CBMs

I don't know but I think Shazam is connected to the DCCU and we're are just getting a little misdirection by New Line and WB.

Why?

New Line is said to be producing several of the announced DC properties.

Why announce Rock as Black Adam this far ahead.

Rock was going to be working on a DC project soon.

I'm thinking a surprise cameo in JL or BvS

don't say I told you so...

Not everything has to be part of a shared Universe and I rather the Justice League Dark have their own universe, so they can feel significant in their movie instead of asking "where is Superman or Batman to help them". If it was part of the DCCU I wouldn't mind, but I would be happier if they can make the Justice League Dark movies separate from it.
