John Boyega Responds To The STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer Reaction

The Attack The Block actor, who's character can be seen wearing Storm Trooper gear in the recently released The Force Awakens trailer, has send out a message to Star Wars fans via Instagram...and he seems to be as excited as they are! He also has something to say to the haters..

I think it's fair to say the majority of us dug the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser (personally I'm still watching it repeatedly), and actor John Boyega clearly shares in the huge amount of enthusiasm and anticipation it has generated among fans. He's taken to Instagram to post this message. Though the majority of it is highly positive, he does seem to address those that have taken issue with certain things in the trailer...perhaps even the very small amount of racist asshats who've voiced their displeasure in seeing a black guy play a Storm Trooper.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters December 18, 2015. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, and features a cast that includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. The film is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk.

There are people mad because he's black? Jesus Christ...

Figuratively speaking for the film, stormtroopers wouldn't even be white they're mandalorian. And the amount of clones decreased.

Reality speaking, people can [frick] off. Can't wait for this film.

that's idiotic. even ignoring the obvious fact that we SAW non-clones in the OS, the clones would all be retired or dead by now...

if they were age-accelerated to like, 25 or so for ep2, then they'd have been 50ish by the end of ep6 and like 80 by ep7. so of course they've been recruiting younger guys...

the question is, why are there no non-HUMAN troopers at this point...?

full disclosure: I hated 'attack the block' and him in it. When I heard that he was cast my first reaction was "shit".

After the teaser? I really dig it. Never would've thought that he just needed to get lubed up in a stormtroopers outfit for my views to change... but still hate the block.

@Jollem i agree... well, i always agree with you. but yeah the cousin thing makes sense to me too. they're creating a universe in which a jillion superheroes are going to show up all at once, so they're trying to come up with an origin story that covers a couple of them at the same time. works for me.

The people here "shocked" at John Boyega getting racist backlash are the the same people attacking Michael B. Jordan on the Fantastic Four articles. Guess fanboyism continues to persist as always.
