So What Did 'Raina' Become On Tonight's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Most of the discussion has been focused on Skye and her dear ol' daddy, but someone else underwent a pretty drastic transformation during the climax of tonight's midseason finale. Maurissa Tancharoen drops a few hints as to what might be in store for the enigmatic Raina..
The character of Raina has been obsessed with finding out her "destiny" ever since she was introduced early on in season 1 of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., and in tonight's winter finale she finally discovered it along with Skye (though I guess we should call her Daisy now!) in that mysterious underground temple. Both characters were encased in stone once their "Terrigenesis" was activated, before emerging as fully-fledged Inhumans.
We know Skye will now become the Marvel superhero Quake, but what about Raina? Well, we did get a brief glimpse of part of her face as she emerged from her rocky cocoon, and there's definitely signs of a physical transformation there. While talking to Marvel.com one of the show's EPs, Maurissa Tancharoen, says we'll find out much more when S.H.I.E.L.D. returns in 2015, but offers up a few cryptic hints in the meantime.
"Well, Raina has always been someone who walks into a room and knows she has all the power, and the ability to sway anything in her way. Part of that is her appearance. She’s always adorned herself in flower dresses, she’s always perfectly put together, and she’s a beautiful woman. Now we’ll see how this transformation affects her."
There's been speculation, given her somewhat feline look in the image above, that Raina might be an incarnation of Tigra, who has had dealings with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the comics. That character wasn't an Inhuman, but then neither was Quake! I'm not so sure about that one though, as they're clearly spines on her face, not stripes. What do you guys think? Sound off with your theories below.
