Third Riddick Movie In The Pipeline

Third Riddick Movie In The Pipeline

Vin Diesel has Twittered that locations are being scouted for a Pitch Black threequel.

Last time anyone heard from director David Twohy or Vin Diesel about another Riddick movie was in August, when Twohy explained that he had been developing two ideas, one rated PG-13, the other rated R, but the studio was having a hard time picking either. Now, on Vin Diesel's official Facebook page, he reveals that

"the Riddick team is in New Zealand location scouting already… that's exciting."

It is, and it isn't. If the next movie turns out to be like Pitch Black then there is reason for excitement. If it turns out like the sequel, Chronicles Of Riddick...well, not so much.

So, three guesses which of the two ideas the gore mongers on this site are gonna be hoping for! Seriously though, leave the PG-13 ratings to Twilight movies for Gods sake.

As you can probably guess, I'm not too excited at the prospect of another Riddick movie.

Pass. I'd rather stick a hot poker in my eye hole than watch Diesel try and talk through the marbles he's hiding in his mouth. The dude drives me insane.

Pitch black was a pretty sweet movie, I really liked the suspense.

And while the second one wasn't anywhere near as good as the first, mostly because it was a different genre, I still enjoyed it. It was like conan in space.

I didn't hate it...It was just so disappointing as a sequel to Pitch Black which I really liked. All that shit with the ghosty Judy Dench and the convulted plot..it was just over kill..and Diesel seemed to have stopped attending his acting classes since the first one.

would you call it a third Riddick movie cause Pitch Black was not really a solo movie about Riddick. i personally like The Chronicles of Riddick so im up for another one.

LOL, I can't begin to explain how much i disslike these
movies. Nothing against Vin Diesel,he is a fine actor, but the only movie I liked him in was "Boiler Room"

This is a pass for me!

It's about damn time. The Chronicles of Riddick (the director's cut) is one of my favorite sci-fi films of all time.

i love the riddick movies
its putting Diesel into a role that suits him, not a lot of talking and killing things
it is a fantastic world that has so much room for expansion. This is a movie franchise i would be glad to see a an addition to
not [frick]ing fast and the furious

The Pitch Black movie was a wonderful gritty real-
world sci-fi movie but Chronicles was just over-the-top and
unrealistic and credible! It was overblown and
forgot it's roots, gritty realistic sci-fi!

And I have a theory that the marbles Vin is trying to
talk around are HIS marbles that somehow leaked
out of his skull into his mushy mouth! lol

Pitch Black was really cool, I dug it a lot.

But Chronicles of Riddick was over-the-top, badly acted (I can't stress this enough), bad CGI, and just plain stupid.

Vin Diesel, go back to getting killed off in the first half-hour of good movies, like in Saving Private Ryan. That's where you truly belong now ;)

I actually loved Pitch Black, and I actually liked Chronicles of Riddick. I hope they do make a sequel, but I would like more realism.

yeah, I'd like it to go back to being more of a psychological terror flick like the first. I loved seeing only glimpses of the aliens till the end.

The second one was a generic scifi actioner, which was decent enough in it's own right, but that genre just isn't as interesting as the terror that the first one was.

Awesome news!

I've liked Diesel in a few movies... Iron Giant, Fast & Furous, Riddick, Boiler Room and Saving Private Ryan. I didn't care much for Triple X, or any of his more recent films, but it was more the movies and plots than Diesel himself.

Keep him to beating the crap out of people and I'll watch it ;o)

When I saw the set designs and the cast for Riddick I was totally stoked. It looked really good but it wasn't, alas.

I liked both movies and for a science fiction I thought the second was fine.

The first movie occurred on one planet and it was about their survival. At the end it implies he is no longer the riddick he once was.

The Cartoon about butcher fitted nicely with the story and it introduced the merc that was after Riddick during the second. Cartoon also shows a small glimpse of his universe.

The second movie shows more of his universe and kept up with the story of the first movie and the cartoon.

As for acting, He plays the same guy from the first movie to second, even in the cartoon. I mean what is everyone talking about, he always plays the same dude except he either talks more or less.

Unrealistic universe or over done. . . hmmm not sure what to think about that. We'll believe in guys who shoot electicity out of their fingers that derive their power from microscopic beings in their cells but not a world where a religion is imposing its beliefs on other civilizations . . . well, that sounds alot like medievil earth to me.

If you just dont like the guy thats ok though, i get it.

For those who hated the second, what would have you done with a second movie?

Um...I Really liked BOTH movies!

The Second one came out with White Chicks and sevearl other movies that Clashed against each other.

If they can pick a better release date and take this next movie over the top then that would be Great.

But isn't he the KING of the Necromongers???
I hope the story will follow after that.

I'm Excited!!!

I've been following this story pretty closely ever since I saw The Chronicles of Riddick in theaters. At 15, Diesel epitomized a badass in that movie. It was a shor time later that I picked up Pitch Black; and lo an behold, I found an ever grittier, grungier, more badass Riddick then the one before. I was hooked man. Riddick is one of greatest anti-hero badasses in my book. And the way Diesel plays him, half-animal, half-man, is only somethin Vin can really embody. He has a very close connection to the character of Riddick and has a very deep understanding and respect for the character's universe. If anything, I love Vin for his dedication to the character.

As far as the two new Riddick movies are concerned: Vin and David Twohy discussed some plot points on the continuing story of Riddick as the leader of the Necromongers. I was under the impression they would be in chronological order, so if thats the case, TCOR: The Underverse was supposed to be next. It's supposed to be Riddick going to the Underverse, the Necromongers Afterlife, and getting Kyra/Jack back. Or some such nonsense. It would be rated 'R' according to Diesel and Twohy and I imagine it would be more 'Pitch Black' in tone than the Chronicles of Riddick. Which is a good thing.

The Third movie would be TCOR: Return To Furya. It was supposed to deal with Riddick's Furyan heritage and his home planet of Furya; no idea what else kinda plot there would be. This one I imagine would be the PG-13 of the two and would be more 'Chronicles of Riddick' in tone than 'Pitch Black' Which is a bad thing.

But this information isn't all factual. Yes, I found it in interviews with Diesel, but really, who knows? Changes are made all the time. I do know, however, for a fact, that 3 scripts were delivered the day that Twohy pitched The Chronicles of Riddick. He had keys for the other 2 but would only open them after the first had been made. Looks like now he craked open the other two scripts. Either way, this is good news to me. I can't wait to see Riddick kickin more ass on the big-screen.

Pitch Black was well done, but not favorite genre so that kinda wasn't much fun for me.

Chronicles of Riddick had an interesting premise for the Necromongers and I liked the visual style at least. It wasn't anything special, but I liked it for what it was. It was an over the top action flick, pure popcorn with no extra meaning or hidden message, and at that it mostly succeeded.

I'm curious to see where they take things for a third Riddick film. It's not something I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for, but it's one I'll probably at least check out on DVD at some point.

Well... We can say what ever we want about Vin's talent or lack there of. HE IS however perfect for the role of Riddick. He never dissapoints when he portrays him. Pitch Black was awesome so no need to go there. But in regards to Chronicles, everyone on here has surely seen many many worse films than this one. In it's genre as well as in others. No it wasn't broke back private ryan material. It never was meant to be any more than what it actually is: A great new universe with interesting characters to follow. It's not based on anything already in existance so we can't dish on it for being a sucky adaptation of a great source. I mean, how can someone be remotely psyched about the new "Predator" film and not be psyched for a new Riddick film? The Predator films weren't anything more special than the Riddick ones. They were just as enjoyable. Chronicles is a space saga about a guy who kicks ass at the drop of a dime for shits and giggles. That's what a furyan does and Vin is actually great at it. He doesn't need to follow up on his acting classes to bring us another great chapter in Riddick's life. It's also very similar to LOBO's style. How can we be so hyped up for LOBO but not for Riddick when those two films were decent action/adventure/sci-fi experiences? I'm not gonna expect anything more for Lobo's feature so that i won't be dissapointed but i surely don't want anything less! If LOBO turns out as good as Chronicles, i'll be content and anticipating a sequel as much as i will be anticipating Riddick's next adventure!

Terrible actor? Go watch Man Apart, Boiler Room, and Find Me Guilty, then come back and post something negative. Vin can go beyond the whole New York tough guy thing at any given time. If someone were to offer you 15 million to play a badass in several movies you'd take the money too so stop the bitching.
