A while ago it was announced that Bryan Singer was attached to direct a remake of John Boorman’s 1981 film, Excalibur. Well apparently that is still happening, but Warner Bros. have also put a competing production into development. But this one is not a remake of the Boorman film, it’s a big-screen adaptation of Warren Ellis’ Excalibur treatment. Ellis who you may or may not know, had a run as a writer of Marvel’s Excalibur(Captain Britain, Nightcrawler etc) early in his career. Now, Guy Ritchie has been attached to direct THIS version of the film...but don't get too exited because although the script is also by Ellis, there is(so far) no indication that the film will be some type of adaptation of the comic book.
All we know so far is that Singer’s version is closer to a remake of the Boorman film, Ritchie’s possible take is..
"More in the tone of Star Wars, and differs from the prior 751 King Arthur movies in many ways, but perhaps most obviously in that it is very specifically about the gathering of the Knights.”

Excalibur team has elements of the Knights gathering too, but since Marvel Studios are not mentioned anywhere in any of this, its highly unlikely that this project is a CBM! But it is interesting that there are two
Excalibur movies in development, and both are set up at Warners. They surely have to be quite different I would imagine?
Anyway, whatever type of movie Ritchie develops, it seems like we can look forward to Big King Arty Dick Fingers shouting: "Oi, lady in the fackin wawta, you want this fackin sword or what you kahnt?"..or not:)
