Emmy Rossum Wants To Play Black Orchid...And Death!

DBE star Emmy Rossum recently revealed to MTV that she would love to be part of any movie based on the work of acclaimed comic writer and "Sandman" creator Neil Gaiman..

While speaking with the doe-eyed, 22-year-old actress , MTV asked her about the source material for “Dragonball,” based on a beloved Japanese comic that began publishing in the mid-’80s.

“The mangas that I read are the Neil Gaiman stuff, like ‘Black Orchid’,” Rossum told MTV News. “Okay, maybe I am a geek.”

Neil Gaimen has done Manga??..Im sure she meant comics bless her. Its also news to me that there is a film version of Gaimens excellent run on "Black Orchid" in the works but apparently..

“He is making ‘Black Orchid’,” she said, exposing an interest in Gaiman’s plans. “And he’s also making ‘Death’ too.”

MTV: Have you tried to reach out to him about being in either of those movies?

EMMY ROSSUM: No comment.

MTV: No comment? That sounds like a yes.

ER: I think whenever you talk out loud about things one way or another you jinx things. I’m a big believing in jinxing.

MTV: So, jinxing means that you are hoping?

ER: (laughing uneasily) I love Neil Gaiman. I think he’s a genius. Let’s leave it at that.

The “no comment”-worthy possibility that Rossum has reached out to Gaiman should come as a thrill for the writer/producer/director’s fans, who’ve watched him struggle to get either project off the ground for some time. But do they think Rossum would be the right fit for either film? Personally i didnt think much of her in DBE..and im being nice there! But then again thats all i have seen her in so maybe thats not the best thing to judge her on. I love both of these characters so i hope if she does get a part as either..She does it justice!

She dresses like one and the Goths adopted her image as there little poster girl but as a character she is actually bubbly and positive..shes certainly the least bleak of all the endless. 	Ror, We can play which illustration is the best interpretation of Death all day. Death with more of a figure would be more appealing. Having Keira playing Death would look more like Famine. ;) Ellen Page would make an ideal Death. Ellen's facial features are almost identical to the above pic. 	lol, That pic you posted still looks like a pretty skinny Death to me! A fuller figure may be more appealing but its not a good representation of the character..why not cast Scarlett Johannson as Death! 	You guys have got to stop casting by looks. If she's somewhere in the right age group and not completely physically different, get black no. 1 hair dye and you've got death. It should really be about the character the actor can play. Rorschach is right. Death is bubbly and earnest. She's caring but blunt. She's a tom-boy with a feminine spunk. If the girl can act and she can fit into the black blouse, I'm sold. Orchid's a bit more complicated though... I haven't seen Dragonball, but it doesn't look like a good movie to judge anyone's acting skills. I'm sure there's a lot of great fan-fun in it, but its not the type of film that makes an actor. Loving the character is half the battle though. More power to the fan-girl, Emmy. Hope she has the chops. I'd rather see an unknown like her play orchid or death than a big star like Ricci or Kiera. 	Does this mean Sandman may finally get a movie. Death is a pretty interesting character. I like the DC version better than Marvel's. I could see Glau. 	Ror, Rachael McAdams would play an ideal Orchid. Rumor has it she was interested in playing Orchid. I'm still researching a good fit for Orchid. Coats - When I post a side by side comparison, I only select the actor and/or actress that looks the part and can act the part. If they look like the part and can't act the part then you'll see limited response from me. I think Gordon Ramsay looks like John Constatine, but I definitely know he cannot act the part. Keira, is freaking hot. She is to mature in age to be Death. I honestly like to see Keira play Madame Xanadu. Madame Xanadu is English. The character is based on the mythical nymph Nimue made popular by Sir Thomas Malory's compilation of French and English romances, Le Morte d'Arthur (The death of Arthur). To me that sounds like Keira and the Nimue/Madam Xanadu character changes through the ages. Keira has the chops to show the progression of this character. 	i enjoy a great comic book adaptation, too. that said, some works just shouldn't be touched and should remain in the genre they were originally created in. the idea of any movie project connected to Gaiman's Sandman work is absolutely appalling. As far as comic books go, it was the one body of work which completely redefined and raised the bar in the medium. (watchmen and the dark knight got the ball rolling, but were nowhere near as ambitious, or, for that matter, as layered or multi-faceted). There should never ever forever and ever ever ever be a Sandman movie. All that off my chest, if Gaiman, himself, were to write a Death movie it might work. Coraline was excellent, after all. Ricci sucks as a choice (the character of Death was never about how sexy she was, and besides, Ricci really is a terrible actress). 	I think Ricci is a good actress (Buffalo 66, Black Snake Moan, The Opposite Of Sex) but i dont think she would inject enough warmth and humor into Death is all. Rachel Mcadams..yeah i could see that. Iv only seen her in Red Eye(crap movie but she was good in it). I dont know really, Orchids a hard one. Megan Fox! But i think that if Gaimen is hands on involved then a movie adap could work..as long as they dont try to cram the entire run into one movie obviously! 	I like the idea of Ellen Paige as death as well. Great casting! Wouldnt a thought of it unless it was right in my face. I think her natural character would work well as Death. NOT a big fan of Kiera Knightley. I like my girls curvey with a little extra budonk. Her acting is meh. Her teeth are like razor blades. Her shoulders are like pikes.
