SCOOP: Meet The Actors On Fox & WB's Radar For Their Upcoming SUPERHERO Roles!

Which future stars are set to make a big splash in Hollywood? We had heard that both Fox and Warner Bros. were looking at new, young talent for their upcoming slate of CBMs, and we can exclusively reveal some of those names for you here..

When Latino Review's Elmayimbe revealed on Twitter that there was a host of diverse young talent being looked at by Fox and Warner Bros. for some potential roles in future superhero flicks I decided to do some digging, and this is what I found out: Apparently Fox and WB have realized that Marvel have yet to capitalize on the fact that a large percentage of moviegoers are Minority’s (African American, Latino, Asian) and plan to get a leg up on them in that regard. The studios have been looking at lots of unknown - or not very well known - actors to fill some of the roles in their slate of upcoming comic book movies. Which roles? We can't reveal specifically , but obviously there's speculation based on which properties the studios own but haven't adapted yet.

Here are just a few of the names being looked at - we'll have more for you very soon!

Todd Lasance - An Australian actor best known for his performance in tv's Home And Away (sound familiar?), he is considered one of the most popular Australian exports yet to break out globally. He can be seen next on Spartacus: War of The Damned as Julius Caesar.

Shalim Ortiz - A Puerto Rican singer/actor who has been highlighted as the next Latin star. He has appeared in multiple award wining independent films like Bad Ass, Silver Case, and television shows such as Heroes, and Magic City.

Omar Sy - French film actor who gave an amazing performance in The Intouchables, the second biggest box office hit in France. Word is Marvel missed out on an opportunity to cast him (apparently he read for Guardians Of The Galaxy), so Twentieth Century Fox picked him up for X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Shad Gaspard – 6’5” former WWE Pro wrestler. Since leaving wrestling he has become an accomplished Shakespearean theater actor performing as Hamlet, Henry V, and more. As well as appearing on TV shows such as Law & Order, The Game, & The Exes.

Godfrey Gao - Taiwanese model and actor who has appeared in several TV dramas and films. In 2012, it was announced that he will play Magnus Bane in the film adap of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Joe Taslim - An Indonesian model, actor, and former fighter, Taslim is best known for his performance in the 2011 action thriller The Raid as Sgt. Jaka. Apparently another actor Marvel let slip through their fingers as they procrastinated on a deal, and days later he was snapped up for Fast Six.

There you have it guys. Expect to hear some or all of the names on that list again over the coming months as big things are on the horizon. Casting agencies and studios are putting these guys out there and there is big buzz about them. International sales of films in Latino, Asian and European countries are up more than ever and WB and Fox are looking to strike while the iron is hot and infuse more minority characters into their CBMs. Like I said, we don't know specifics on characters and movies, but I'm working on it!

Good stuff Ror!

Joe Taslim was great in The Raid: Redemption and is an excellent fighter.

I wonder what's on WB's radar after MOS....

I was reading his tweets yesterday about this. I'm seeing a potential John Stewart or Martina Manhunter on that list. That guy from the Raid was awesome as well.

Thank goodness. I would love to see John Stewart represent Green Lantern. It would also be cool to see Martian Manhunters alter ego.

The fact that Marvel is not pursueing actors for Black Panther, Luke Cage, Bishop, Blade, Goliath and Brother Voodoo

Idris Elba for John Stewart!!!

He deserves his own comic book movie franchise

@AlexDeLarge87 I was just going to say the same thing.

As far as other Asian superheroes, you've got Psylocke/Kwannon, Sunfire, Silver Samurai (depending on if he's a hero or a villain in a particular story), Northstar and Aurora (their Canadian, but they look Asian the way they're drawn, so I don't know for sure), Jubilee...that's just the ones from Marvel that I could think of. DC there's Katana....uhhhh....

@Levitikuz Iron Fist is actually American.

Giancarlo Esposito for Martian Manhunter is just a must, the man can play sterile coldness brilliantly.

now that I think about the asian actors.... What if one of them is for Sunfire, to appear on the x-men team of the 70's???

Many fans have mentioned him as one of the possible new additions

Honestly... whatever. Everything that has come directly or indirectly from ElMAyimbe so far has been all lies, so we most possibly won't be seeing any of this guys on screen ever

I'd seriously like to know who there possibly playing, this list is useless to me otherwise. But it was mentioned that the writer of this article is working on it, so until that day...

Well I would be okay with Jaime Reyes as the Blue Bettle. But I want to see Static before him. Plus I want to see an Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Flash & Martian Manhunter before all of them.

I like how it sounds like the next GL movie will star John Stewart. I would like to see Lennie James or Cuba Gooding Jr. Play him.

I think Idris Elba would have been a cool Martian Manhunter but seeing as he is in Thor not no more. Seeing as Terrence Howard got fired from Marvel maybe he could be the Martian Manhunter.

I always thought Daniel Dae Kim wouldve made a good Namor.

They should replace Ryan Reynolds (he's AWFUL in everything that he's in) as Hal, add a new actor for Bats, and grab an appropriate Flash and give it hell.

The hardest thing for the JL is getting a story that makes sense. How do you explain them getting together, like realistically? Supes isn't going to round half of those guys up, neither is WW, GL or the Flash. So in comparison to the Avengers they need a Nick Fury/Coulson character that can be the gopher knitting it together. 2 words:

Alfred Pennyworth.

The character was developed greatly in the Nolan trio, to the extent that you were curious to know more about all the things he did before being the Wayne family butler. Make his backstory one in which he knows all the govt contacts, super-hero origins, and who can cleverly arrange for them to run into each other. Bats can't do it himself, because all the other members are OP in comparison. So let him be a strategist and organizer, and let Alfred be the behind the scenes guy. He already is.

So Fox and WB want to lock down these young actors first and then trying to fit them into the script later, whereas Marvel finalizes their script and then starts casting... and people wonder why one studio is so much more consistent than the others.

@Levitikuz - hey my friend- asian superheroes? How about Sunfire, Jubilee, Black Mask, Jolt, Lady Deathstrike, Psylocke, Silver Samuri, Mantis, and the ever popular Zsazsa Zaturnnah!
