SCOOP: 3 More Names On Fox & WB's Radar For Upcoming SUPERHERO Flicks

The other day we reported that Fox and WB are apparently trying to get a leg up on Marvel by looking at lots of unknown - or not very well known - young actors to fill some of the roles in their slate of upcoming comic book movies. I've tried my best to find out exactly which roles, but had no luck (the Sunfire thumbnail is just teasing one possibility) because it turns out even they don't know! My source tells me that they are coming in for readings but only being given scripts from old or unmade projects to work from. Anyway, we may not be able to tell you which CBMs are next on the list, but we can reveal three more names that may just be starring in them. Along with Todd Lasance, Shalim Ortiz, Omar Sy, Shad Gaspard, Godfrey Gao and Joe Taslim, we have:

Aldis Hodge - Acting since age 9, his resume dwarfs most seasoned actors twice his age. At 26, Aldis has appeared in 14 feature films, 30 television series, and is has been dubbed one of the best young actor in Hollywood today, for good reason.

Paul Telfer - A Scottish actor who has been slated for several superhero roles. He is best known for his performances in the two-part miniseries Hercules as the titular character, as well as his multiple appearances on NCIS as Damon Werth, and The Vampire Diaries as Alexander.

Jon Lee Brody - The athletic 6’2” Asian-Jewish-German (yes really) is a highly skilled actor and stunt man who has appeared in such films as The Dark Night Rises, Tron: Legacy, and will also appear in Star Trek: Into Darkness. He can currently be seen in the comedy series Police Guys.

Obviously we don't know if all or even any of these guys will end up sporting masks or capes, but big things are expected. So when they make a splash, remember where you heard their names first!

After seeing Paul Telfer on NCIS i thought we would of made a good Captain America...dude is in shape like crazy in that episode, all he needed was the suit.

Also in that same episode they reference how someone was experimenting on him as if " trying to make him some kind of super soldier like Captain America "

I will believe DC will cast an unknown actor when it actually happens. Until then I expect big name actors all around.

People really want to see a Black Panther movie. I can't really blame any of you. I, too, would enjoy BP on the big screen. But I'm more excited for a Doctor Strange movie. Fingers crossed Johnny Depp is chosen for the role.

Well, I read THIS on Sina.Com yesterday, so take this for what it's worth...

"ANG LEE'S NEXT FILM PROJECT REVEALED: SHANG-CHI, MASTER OF KUNG FU

By Zhang Yujie, Sina English 03/07/13

Ang Lee, the winner of Oscar best director for Life of Pi, is to be the producer in the film Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu, a Taiwan agency reports.

The film is based on a Marvel Comics series from the 1970s about the son of evil mastermind Fu Manchu.

Yuen Woo-ping, a Chinese martial arts choreographer, will be the director of the film.

S.Korea: We are watching the North's activities and stepping up readiness under the assumption that these drills can lead to provocation at any time."

My guess is that given the timing, John Lee Brody (with longer hair and a mean tan) would be a likely candidate for the rebellious son of Fu Manchu. The project has been in development limbo for years, and this would give Fox the perfect opprtunity to pad it's side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a long-time established character.

Plus, Ang Lee has obvious experience with both the martial arts genre AND Marvel heroes with serious daddy issues and their struggles to harness them.

@peterdarker121 Wait does Fox have the rights to Shang Chi? I do not remember him as a mutant or associated with the Fantastic 4.

@The Sisko I don't know WHO has the rights to Shang-Chi, actually. But even though he's not a mutant or associated with the FF universe, I don't see why Fox couldn't use him. Movie studio-wise, he might be a free agent.

Marvel has Shang-Chi. Fiege mentioned him as a possibility almost two years ago. However, I wouldn't get my hopes up from that article alone. It doesn't give much concrete evidence or a named source.

Aldis Hodge looks like he could be a good Black Lighting. If you have him I hope they add his girls Thunder & Lighting. I am not a fan of his new 52 version. So go with his old version with his kids.

Also, I hope Marvel snags Hodge for Black Panther. That's why I made that pic M3T4LL0 posted ages ago.

I also think they could want him for Steel. This way Superman has a parter in the sequel to Man of Steel.

You misheard Ror. What he said was that you need to stop changing your expendables while watching films. It's unfair to the rest of the audience.

Here's a thought. How about Paul Telfer as Namor!!!
What do you think?
theKamizeus
theKamizeus - 3/10/2013, 8:16 PM
@muskoka I was just thinking of that. He actually does kind of give off a Namor vibe to him.
ferg815
ferg815 - 3/11/2013, 12:22 AM
I guess I'm the only one who read "Splash" and thought Namor.

Paul Telfer immediately came to mind. Seeing as Namor is a mutant, Fox has the rights to him, not to mention his Fantastic Four connection.

And while I'm at it, Amber Heard for Sue Storm please. :)
