Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. The movie is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black, and hits theaters May 3, 2013.

@banesmash Movie wise, how much has DC/WB given us? As compared to how much Marvel has given us? Of cause people will get mad at DC/WB more.

Don't believe the haters, I've seen it earlier today and it was great, better than Iron Man 2 and Thor.

Oh yeah ruadh, lots of people were disappointed with Iron Man 2.

@Bane
Its not that Marvel fans think its ok- its just the norm. The villains have all been altered from what we are accustomed to from the books. WB did it with Green Lantern and Parallax, Bane was changed in TDKR. I actually don't think we will ever get carbon copy villains book to screen. Sometimes it works ie:Ledger as Joker and sometimes its a flat fail: Galactus the cloud.

@TheBaroness89

Well put. I can't think of any comic book movie that was a literal translation...Well, I guess SIn City. Apparently. I never read the comic. But even Watchmen changed some things. Which I expect.

That's why it's amazing to me that...you know...some people are upset about changes made to characters in IM3. They were all changed, all along.

@Sabconth

I know...I was just being silly. I feel IM2 is just a tiny bit lesser than the first Iron Man, but I guess I can see why people disliked it. Almost.

I've seen it I enjoyed it but the part that everyone is spoiling about smacks of lazy film making. Could have been awesome. You've let me down Marvel. You where our last hope. :p

I thought Iron Man 2 was just ok, but it didn't build upon the foundation of the original and as a sequel failed to up the ante.

And Whiplash was abominable, he looked like a worn out bouncer for a gay, rastafarian night club.

So sick of all you people trying to start flame wars. Can't you just be happy we're getting a bunch of awesome comic book movies? Why does it always have to come down to "OMG DC is better! See what Marvel did now?!"

I for one am loving ALL of these comic book movies being released. TDK trilogy, Avengers movies, Amazing Spidey, etc. Yeah some of them are a little disappointing or not everything is 100% like the way I want it to be, but overall, this is a great time for comic book fans. Just shut the hell up and enjoy it. Jesus Christ.

I agree. I see most comic book movies, and enjoy them. Though I've still yet to see Dark Knight Rises. I own it, but it's just a lack of time due to children.

@DoubleD....agreed. The Flame Wars will never end. On a site like this it's extremely entertaining too. I usually don't take sides cause I love MARVEL and DC equally and to me each company has its pros and cons and does things better than the other. But I'd be lying to ya if I said I didn't get a kick out of coming here and watching the extremeist go at it a couple of pages!

I didn't hate Iron Man 2, it certainly wasn't perfect and is the weakest of film so far of the MCU, but it has it's place. I just think they missed out on a great opportunity with Whiplash, he could have been something different but they just gave him a big metal suit in the end. Which sucks. And Sam Rockwell was so underused it's criminal. That dude needs to play a much larger role.

Iron Man 3 looks to be the best IMO. I know a lot of people are pissed about this big twist, I don't know what it is yet (I have some sort of idea though) and if it's what I'm thinking it does suck but it won't ruin the rest of the film for me. Putting whatever is inevitably going to piss me off aside, I think the movie's going to own!

@Ryden

Can't agree more about Sam Rockwell. I really was hoping he could sub in for Norman Osborn in the MCU, and ultimately lead something akin to the THunderbolts or Dark Avengers. Either way, I hope he does come back.

The nearest theater to me isn't one of those, so nah...

ANd of course they'll settle. Iron Man 3 stands to make some cash, so they can have some, or none...

@ruadh I hope they settle by Friday, or else I'll cancel my tix(got them b4 they stopped selling advanced tix) and go to the Navy Pier IMAX in Chicago, otherwise I'd have to wait awhile for the local theaters to show it

I cant believe the main complaint that im getting from people is that its funny. It seems like they are trying to find something for MOS to win with. Yall know Snyder and Nolan are missing their funny bone. I just appreciate the fact that SUPERMAN, IRONMAN, and THOR will have epic movies come out in the same year.

I honestly do not see why Iron Man 2 is hated so much. I agree it did not live up to the first, but that's no reason to hate it. The movie was good, just not great like the first, simple as that.
muhammed
muhammed - 4/24/2013, 12:08 PM
@RextheKing That's what i said; comparing Iron Man 2 to all the other comic book movies out that same year, i'd say Iron Man 2 ranked #3 in-terms of quality (Scott Pilgrim and Kick-Ass being 1 and 2).
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 4/24/2013, 3:06 PM
It's not all about how many films you can put out it's about how many "quality" films you can put out.

Yeah DC is starting their new universe with Man of Steel but big things have small beginnings...

Ain't that right David??
