Who Might Be The Main Villain In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY? Plus New TASM 2 Details

JoBlo are at it again! After the jump find out who they reckon will be the chief antagonist in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy...and it's not a name we've heard rumored before. They also have some details on Paul Giamatti's Rhino character from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

According to JoBlo's sources the main villain in Guardians Of The Galaxy will not be Thanos, nor will it be the recently rumored Collector (Controller?), but Ronan the Accuser, the ruler of the Kree! This character has not only battled the GOTG in the comics but also the likes of The Fantastic Four, and The Inhumans -- so this could well be a way for Marvel to expand and tie into other cosmic themed movies later down the line. We know that actor Lee Pace was recently cast as the main villain in James Gunn's movie, so although JoBlo can't confirm as much, it'd be a safe bet that if this is accurate he'll be playing Ronan. Will this eventually build to the Kree/Skrull war? Only time will tell.

As for the Spidey news, well this isn't as big and probably something most of us assumed anyway, but they can seemingly confirm that Paul Giamatti won't just be playing Aleksei Sytsevich as we have seen so far in the set pics, but will over the course of the move transform into some version of The Rhino. They have no details on how this will happen or what he will look like, but assume it'll have something to do with that Oscorp canister he's seen stealing in the leaked set snaps.

Ronan The Accuser?! I guess the rights to the Kree & Skrulls are like Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch...FOX and Marvel can use them(remember that report awhile back about how the F4 reboot want to explore their mythos)?

If so....HELL YES!!

That sound you hear is the squeal of fanboys pinching themselves disbelieving that Marvel is actually making this movie, and using these characters.

I wouldn't be disappointed if Ronan was the main villain rather than Thanos... either way, it's gonna be an epic showdown on the big screen, so I'm happy with it. BRING IT!

@Omarvls - I'm not sure about that... Marvel would be in a huge heap of legal trouble with that aggressive strategy. However, with Disney's money backing them, maybe they are getting a little ballsy... Hmmm.

@Omarvls - I have no explanation for it. I am no lawyer, but it makes no legal sense to me. However, like I said, maybe they're getting more aggressive now that they have the money behind them. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying that it may lead to court room battles if that is their strategy. I hope that is what they are doing and I hope they go after Sony next so we can get a PROPER Spider-man flick in the future.

@ Omarvls

Yeah I am not sure if you can put that on DC it is more of a WB thing on holding back. I agree it is silly for them to wait on MOS to see how things shake it out. But I also think WB wants to go all in and they are taking caution.

Also I am glad Marvel has taken risks and they have paid off very well. But be careful and do not take to many risks some will bite you in the A$$. I am afraid Marvel is going to start getting sloppy on some of their movies.

omarvls just went full retard

If Iron Man 1 wasn't a success, none of this would be happening. So waiting on Man of Steel is a logical move.

Awesome!!! Whatever characters are in the gray area, Marvel Studios needs to use them first. So they need to get them into pre-production status immediately.

That is so true they had already given up on the Hulk movies and nothing kick started till the end of IM. So that is a accurate statement.

This is great news if true. Ronan Vs Drax, on the big screen, are you kidding me. This movie has the potential to be the best marvel movie yet. Love the GoTG move, from marvel. It opens the door for so many characters and stories. Intro the kree in GoTG, and it opens the door for Cpt Mar Vel, and the inhumans. This news almost has me thinking that the Maximoffs will be inhumans, and they will probably use inhumans as the MCU mutants.
