UPDATE: Emma Stone Seemingly Confirms Huge TASM 2 SPOILER

While talking to SFX, the actress would seem to confirm a massive spoiler pertaining to her character Gwen Stacy. I'm sure most of you know what that would be, but just in case we'll keep the reveal after the jump. Click on for more..

UPDATE: Disregard the quotes below, as they are actually 9 months old! Digital Spy posted them as new (for some bizarre reason) and we didn't recognize them.

Okay so you've clicked on, all SPOILERS are fair game. You might remember a while back when we brought you some exclusive info from the set of Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man sequel. One pretty major tidbit was that -- just as she does in the comics -- Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) would indeed be kicking the bucket in the movie. It's not something that came as too much of a surprise to most fans who knew about the character's fate at the hands of The Green Goblin (and inadvertently Spider-Man), but many were curious as to whether something so shocking would ever make its way on to the big screen. Well, Emma Stone pretty much confirms to SFX (via Digital Spy) that that is exactly what we will be seeing when the film hits theaters.

"Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident, so the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing. Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it. But, of course, I want to stay true to that."

That sounds pretty cut and dry to me. But will it be Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (Chris Cooper) doing the deed, or will Webb and co. be changing things up a bit?

I guess technically you can say that, Green Goblin never killed her. So, as long as I get the same impact then I'm okay with it. My only issue is, TASM 2 feels too much like The Dark Knight right now. Two villains and the lost interest dies? Mimicking much?

She said this same thing when the first movie came out. Wouldn't read too much into it.

If she indeed does get killed, then it`s gotta be one of the worst kept secrets in CBMovies ever (right above Talia`s appearence in TDKR). I mean, as much as I hate the Mandarin twist in IM3, at least they managed not to spoil it in advance. But this?

Maybe her death will be at the end of the film, introducing the green goblin to open up for tasm 3?

Surely we've all known this since the funeral pics. At least I have. I mean okay, so it wasn't definitive evidence, but it was pretty obvious. How many times are they gona think they can Miranda Tate us? How many times wil they Mandarin Khan us? She dies, we've known this since the start of production.
Also, the only reason I know aout the Mandarin is because of headlines that think they're not giving anything away, but really are.
The fact that there is "Emma Stone" and "Big Spoiler!" in the headline gives it away, without even clicking on it.

Also I bet you any money that Marc Webb promotes the film by saying things like "This is our Empire Strikes Back" and "This is the darkest of the trilogy" and stuff like that.

I mean the mandarin twist was completely un expected, Gwen's death is expected and it's in the comics

If Gwen Stacy is never actually killed off, that would be the only time I'm ok with a comic book movie diverging from the source material.

Emma Stone is so great in the role, I want her to be around for more than two Spider-Man movies. Also, the whole thing would be too dark for a Spider-Man movie IMO. Especially if they follow the source material to a tee.

@Jollem Now this is the story all about how

I'll tell you how I became the creator of the Iron Man Extremis armor

I would have rather they saved that for the 3rd act and Green Goblin but as long as the effect is as impactful I guess I can accept it

Its gotta be hard keeping this a secret. We all know what's going to happen. Hell, I knew it was going to happen when Emma Stone was cast as Gwen Stacy. Don't fault the film makers on this. Gwen always had to die.
