There's no subtitles unfortuantely, but this certainly LOOKS pretty damn impressive. As a fan of the cartoon I'll definitely be checking it out.

Set in the near future, Gatchaman follows the story five special agents of the International Science Organization in Tokyo as they try to protect the world from the mysterious terrorist group who call themselves Galactor. With technology that far surpasses that of humans, Galactor has declared war on the entire world and has already subjugated half of it. Trained to draw out the power from the mysterious crystal-like object called a "stone," our five heroes will be called "Gatchaman."

Gatchaman stars Tôri Matsuzaka as Ken aka Gatchaman, Gô Ayano as Condor No Joe, Ayame Gôriki as Jun The Swan, Tatsuomi Hamada as Junpei The Swallow, Ryohei Suzuki as Ryu The Owl, Gorô Kishitani as Dr. Nambu and Eriko Hatsune as Naomi.

Are you people serious. This looks like garbage. I loved the cartoon as a kid but this is trash. Just do an updated anime and leave it at that.

I think this looks alright. A flashier, more adult Power Rangers looking movie. I'll watch it, but I agree with Grif. I'm not going to Rosetta Stone Japanese anytime soon (eventhough I want to) so please, give me English dubbing.

I think it looks good. Obviously the effects aren't to a Hollywood standard, but they did a great job with the costumes etc. And thewolfx, let me get this straight..your complaining because a Japanese adaptation of a Japanese cartoon isn't in English? I've heard it all now

I remember the censored American version that was shown in the late 70s on BBC1. The viewer regularly got a upskirt look at Princess' white knickers.
Those were the days.

while i do HATE how Hollywood rapes japanese stuff like anime, this movie looks the quality of Power Rangers. I can't wait for Japan to catch up with Hollywood though, then they can make some good movies.

This could be cool with better budget.

The CGI version looked alot better and cooler.

This looks pretty cool! I'll definitely check it out!

@sinsear912 - I completely agree with you.

@fettastic - "Bump of Chicken" is the rock group that sings the song during the trailer. So if people want to buy the single for the film they'll know that it's from the group called "Bump of Chicken."

I'm a big fan of this series! I watched it in the early 80's. It looks good, and I really can't demand much from it.

FOOM
FOOM - 6/21/2013, 11:45 AM
Yeah, there are some Power Rangers elements there but that's not surprising as Gatchaman is the gran daddy of the whole Sentai thing. Still looks better than the new Gatchaman Crowds anime though.
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 6/21/2013, 11:45 AM
Looks okay. Seems like Japan is trying to step up their game. And that is welcome.

NO DUB! Dub of live-action always sounds really weird. I can't believe people would actually want that. I'll stick to subtitles, thankyou. And all those whiners about not being able to speak Japanese haven't even mentioned that option.

It looks aight I guess. The costumes look really good but the effects are kind of crappy.

sameoldthing - 6/21/2013, 12:34 PM
For Japanese live action production..it's ok looking.

If Hollywood does a Battle Of The Planets film it needs to me set in the 70's.
The actors should have long hair & bell bottom pants just like the cartoon.

Basically just base the entire look off of the artwork of Alex Ross, hire him as concept artist & there ya go.
