DC and Warner Bros. may be done with the Batman movie universe created by Christopher Nolan, but According to ThinkMcflyThink they are looking to keep it alive on the small screen. Word is the studio is currently looking for a writer to bring them "a Gotham PD inspired television show that would essentially take place between the aftermath of The Dark Knight and before the return of Batman in The Dark Knight Rises." Apparently Jonah Nolan is involved with the project which would offer a glimpse into the efforts of the Gotham City Police Department to keep a handle on crime in Batman's absence. Now this isn't actually the first time a show like this has been rumored, so obviously we'll have to keep that grain of salt at the ready, but what do you guys think of the idea anyway?

If there is no Batman then what is the point? Might aswell just do a normal police show.

Base it on the comic series, let the Nolanverse die already.

How about a Batman TV Show between Batman Begins AND The Dark Knight?

Good idea . . . when ABC/Disney/Marvel thought of it.

So a show about the police department that sent all their officers into a sewer and they couldn't get out for months while Batman saved Gotham those guys? no thanks.

At least SHIELD is introducing some superpowered hero types even if we don't know who they are this just seems like a cop show that they think people will tune in because they might mention Batman in passing.

If anything too big happens, the Batman is a dick for retiring and not lifting a finger to help. If nothing that big happens, then what's the point of it being a comic book cop show?

SHIELD still works because you only would call in the Avengers for a huge, non-investigation kind of threat. Batman is supposed to fight crime on a more personal level. It's bad enough he went to mope in retirement over a girl, but its unforgivable if you introduce his rogues gallery and he never comes out of his mansion to deal with them.

A Super Secret government agency dealing with Super Powered individuals sounds far more interesting than the Gotham Police without Batman

I'm normally all Make Mine Marvel, but this already sounds more interesting than the SHIELD show.

Gotham PD could be a gritty, violent police show with minor villains and hints at the super(anti)heroics.

Shield so far looks like the normal teen aimed superhero less superhero world, like Mutant X, Arrow, Smallville.

Really hope I'm wrong tho.

I think I'd prefer to see a show about a detective Barbara Gordon or something.

I seriously hope this isn't on the CW.
They can't do Batman related content justice or even Wonder Woman content.
They need a network that can be more gritty and with higher budgets like FX.

set in the 8 years when there wasn't any batman?.. so its basically just another cop show (cause we dont have enough already) with "Gotham" in the title? no thanks, when I want to watch cop shows the CW is the last place I want to go to.

but seems like the kind of stupid thing warner and DC would do...

"Shield so far looks like the normal teen aimed superhero less superhero world, like Mutant X, Arrow, Smallville."

I've somehow missed all of the shirtless shots of hottie Clark Gregg when it comes to SHIELD promos. Teens swoon over Clark Gregg.

I do have to laugh... Every single show Joss Whedon has ever done had super-powered people in it. But somehow the one set in the Marvel Universe will be the exception?

Oooo I wanna see a Barbara & Dick show.
Kinda like Fringe. Bruce could be an older wiser mentor-type like Walter.

SHIELD has its work cut out for it. this is Marvel's first whack at T.V. and ABC/Disney has been known for airing some pretty sketchy shows. most of its popular network programming is geared toward housewives/family entertainment. Nothing cutting edge unless you count Modern Family, Desperate Housewives, and McDreamy cutting edge. Basically a Men In Black with super-peeps. I predict that Marvel TV will = DC movies in success and start the severe watering down of its characters.

Gotham, on the other hand at least has the potential to be a gritty cop show with plenty of corruption and organized crime. A show where the lines are unclear who the good guys are and the super/villains can take center stage.

I would love to see this!

Gotham Central comic series was fantastic and worked perfectly without bats.

It was Gotham through the eyes of the cops and how they viewed the vigilante Batman.

This was written by Ed Brubaker & Greg Rucka.

If anyone thinks this is dumb......they should check out the comic series or just google it!
