New OLDBOY Still Features Samuel L. Jackson As 'Chaney'

This new pic from Spike Lee's Oldboy remake gives us a look at Sam Jackson's mysterious character 'Chaney'. Apparently all details on him are being kept under wraps, but we can at least see that he's sporting a pretty nifty Mohawk..

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

Oldboy hits theaters November 27th, 2013.

I didn't Copley is going to be in this, might be interesting. Pretty good lineup of actors. I've seen the Japanise version of this movie that came out a while back and it was pretty good. I might give this movie a try.

Cause, imo, Spike Lee sucks and doesn't have the talent to live up to the measure everyone will base their critiques on: the original.

Not to mention that yellow 'hawk precludes me from taking this seriously.

I'll watch it on netflix or redbox though, and if I enjoy it I'll make a public declaration.

I'm not of the belief that Hollywood can't take a foreign film and do a good job with a remake. However, the big disturbing twist in the Korean version is part of what makes the original such a cult hit. I'm not confident a Hollywood studio has the balls to tackle the subject matter of the original twist, so I think this movie will be sub-par.

That, and because its a "Spike Lee joint"

So did Sam & Spike make up..they used to argue over how often Sam & other characters in Tarantino films would use the "N"-word.

Sam told Spike,"That's the way we talk motherfu--er."
Sam is the best. Spike..not so much.

Spike's comeback film, I can feel it. Can't wait to see what his next movie's gonna be with that kickstarter.
