The rumor confirmation/denial game is always a funny one -- basically it's very rare for an actor's representatives to officially confirm a casting scoop, and on a few occasions they've flat out lied about it. Still, more often than not if it's more than just a "no comment" and a full statement of denial is released, then that usually ends up being the case...and that's what we have here.
“There is no truth to the rumor Benedict has been cast in Star Wars,” a spokesperson for the 37-year-old actor told NY Daily News.
“I think the rumors are circling because JJ and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on Star Trek .” That may be the case, and it may not! This in no way means Cumberbatch definitely won't be a part of the movie; we're just bringing you the latest update, and that update is...according to his camp he ain't in the movie! We'll surely find out one way or another soon enough.
