We finally have some Star Wars casting news! Granted probably not the type you'd prefer, but Lucasfilm's upcoming animated series set between the prequels and the original trilogy is also pretty highly anticipated. THR have learned that David Oyelowo, Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray and Steven Jay Blum are in the process of being cast as the voice leads for the series, which will make its debut in fall 2014. Once again, no character details..but feel free to speculate away! The Butler's Oyelowo was one of the names rumored to have gone in for a reading for Star Wars Episode V11, but there's nothing to say he isn't involved in both projects. Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class), Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars) and Greg Weisman (Young Justice) are executive producing.

Whoa. Oyelowo voice acting in Star Wars? I don't know why, but I thought he would be above that. Freddie Prinze did good in ME3. Steve Blum is a great voice actor, he could be a Smuggler, a Soldier, Bounty Hunter, or any kind of Bad guy.

I didn't like the fact that they canceled The Clone Wars. But with Greg Wiesman and David Filoni working on the series, and with these names possibly joining the group, I'm getting excited.

Yawn!!!! Sucks that the Clones Wars were cancelled. Most of Disney's animated shows they have are pretty sucky.

@Enphlieuwince I meant above animated shows, not above Star Wars.

He is slowly becoming a big name in the biz, I didn't think he would be interested in animated work.

I can almost see Oyelowo voicing Admiral Thrawn.

@Dandy I love the style of The Avatar/Legend of Korra series, but honestly it wouldn't feel right if they don't go with the same style as the Clone Wars.

I'm usually not all for CGI animation, but the way they used it for the Clone Wars (the last season especially) was amazing.

@Jimll565 I know what you mean. If we got even a glimpse of Thrawn I would be happy. Because it's about time Thrawn got his Small or Big screen debut.
