David S. Goyer On SUPERMAN/BATMAN; Says They're "Further Along Than People Realize"

Speaking at the BAFTAS the other night, the screenwriter touched a little more on Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel, revealing that they have a bit more work done on it than people think. He also gives his thoughts on who wins between Batman and Superman!

Every fan has an opinion on how Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman VS Superman themed sequel to Man Of Steel should be handled, but does what any of us think really matter to those that are actually making the movie? To an extent, sure -- I mean they want us to go see their film -- but while speaking at the BAFTAS David S, Goyer explained that they can't dwell on what the fans want too much, because it hinders the creative process. Also, it seems they're a little further along on the highly anticipated sequel than we figured!

“One of the things that has been fun for us, is we’re a bit a further along than what I think people realize. From a fan point of view, you're conscious of that when you’re working on these things, but you can’t let yourself be paralyzed by that. At the end of the day you still have to create something. And if you try and think, ‘Well what would the fans like’ then you stop being creative. It’s sort of like where does it end? You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it.”

Goyer is also asked outright who he thinks would win in the fight between Bats and Supes, and while he obviously doesn't give his exact opinion for fear of showing his hand, he does give a diplomatic answer, deferring to what most fans seem to think. “Most comic book purest would says Batman because he is the ultimate strategist. Even though it makes no sense what so ever. If Superman just flicked his finger Batman would be done for.”

It seems like this is a team up.
Which is so much better!

They'll probably have a short skirmish tantamount to the one Iron Man and Thor had in Avengers (with no clear victor), and then join up to fight Lex Luthor.

If they had added more Character/Story development scenes, the movie would have been great. But it was still very good IMO.

I hope they learned their lesson and decide to develop the characters more in this one.

I would like to see Batman take down Superman using strategy just once. In the end Superman will win, but it would be sooo great to see Batman teach Superman some humility.

Considering Batman and Superman are my two favourite superheroes, and that I loved Man Of Steel, and that I think Ben Affleck could be a good choice for Batman, I should be way more excited for this than I actually am. I have no idea why this isn't exciting me yet. Hopefully that changes soon.

I look at it like this:
If its toe-to-toe, Superman wins. If its a war, Batman wins.
ALegendaryPanda

I hope this movie has a slightly longer runtime than MoS, just to give both characters the development that they need. Especially Clark since it's his sequel after all.

AC1 - i feel the same... and I felt the same when i heard they were making my all time favorite superhero movie, Green lantern.

I think you are not allowing yourself to get excited becasue you know as well as everyone else, that WB tends to ruin everything. so despite the absolute GREATNESS that this movie could be, WB will probably crap all over it

"There is a MOS sequel coming out btw not sure if you heard lol which means MOS was good. IM3 on the other hand... lmfao"

The general consensus proves otherwise.
