Lots Of Concept Art For STAR WARS: REBELS

There's even more at the link below.

The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV -- an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Uhh... the YT-1300 light freighter was made many years before Episode 4, it was a very old model hence why Luke refereed to it as a "piece of junk".
This concept art shows a Corellian freighter that is even older than the YT-1300...
You can tell it is a Corellian make due to their trademark design, though the cockpit in the middle for a Corellian, YT freighter was not implemented till hundreds of years after BBY, the Battle of Yavin. So they are really skipping around the time period, at least the walkers showed are of the correct time period...
Curse my Star Wars nerdiness for not allowing me to see beyond this ship fact
TheOneAboveAll
TheOneAboveAll - 10/15/2013, 4:58 PM
For some strange reason they made the ship look more like the XS stock light freighter(Later used as inspiration for the YT-1000 freighter) than anything in the YT class freighters, though the origin of make clearly is in the same line as the Corellian's.

Nothing remotely like the Millennium Falcon, of which was not gained by Han solo till 3 years or so before the start of A New Hope.
The Millennium Falcon was present during the clone wars as the Stellar Envoy, just use that name with the same shape!

Whoops, 5 years before the Battle of Yavin, or 5 years before A New Hope, is when Han acquired the Falcon. Of which had had that name through out the previous couple of years before.
I have looked at the design of the ship and it is in fact a customized YT-1000 light freighter>, from the schematics I have and not a YT-1300.

So why are they calling it the Millennium Falcon?

Wonder if they will keep the events of Force Unleashed in it.

That frigate or possibly space yatch being attacked by the YT-1000 freighter looks to have similar engine designs of the Incom fighters... maybe it is built by Incom(the same company that built the T-65 X-Wing)

Blech. I was hoping they'd do something that looked a lot cooler than Clone Wars but nooooope. Looks like they're modeling the characters right on the toy designs for another cashgrab 1-2 punch.

This show has potential. With Dave Filoni and Greg Weisman on board, I think this show can be (Keyword:can) as great as SW:CW. It sucks that we have to wait a whole year to see the show.

Not sure if all that is concept art as at the panel it was revealed that some of the art was from Return of the Jedi. It was said the old unused art was used as an inspiration etc.

I am really disappointed in Disney's decision to keep the Clone Wars creative team on board for this new show. Dave Filoni and Greg Weisman had their time with the Clone Wars and now they should pass the torch. The obvious reason why is Disney should be looking to distance themselves from the art direction of the prequel trilogy and focus on the art direction of the original trilogy. I really wanted SW Rebels to be great and now I have a really bad feeling about this.

The AT-ST and speeder bike are just rehashes of concept art from ESB and ROTJ. Check the Art of Empire Strikes Back and the Art of Return of the Jedi books. Still like them though.

I'm glad they have the same creative team. It ensures story and design continuity. The concept artists for Star Wars are top class. It's a joy to see their work

this is just ther next evolution...bet you if clone wars carried on another 2 series, half the moaners on here would be saying, it should of been cancelled ages ago..im glad they are finishing off clone wars before it gets too bloated and i really wanna see what happens post revenge of the sith. were gonna see what happens post return of the jedi too..i think itl all link up,,as in universal..and when u step back and look at the big picture, ull say,,ahhhh thats why we got Jar Jar Binks.

ndwwrestler2 - 10/16/2013, 5:56 AM
@LuckDragon Actually Greg Weisman wasn't on the Clone Wars staff. The series animation is inspired by Ralph Mcquarrie and this series is taking five years before Episode IV, So I don't think you need to worry about them moving on or "distancing themselves" from the prequels.

Thats not the Falcon, its the Ghost. Youre right, while the Falcon is a YT-1300,the Ghost is a YT-1000.

@ndwwrestler2

I guess I just wish they would move on from the Clone Wars animation which I find to be less than inspired. I know it takes place between Ep III and IV, and perhaps there needs to be some continuity between the two trilogies, BUT I was really hoping that with Disney at the helm we would start to see more similarities, if not exact art direction from the original trilogy. I am not a prequel trilogy hater but one of my major complaints was that the art direction didn't seem to mirror or fit Ralph Mcquarrie's original concepts that made the originals so great. From everything we have heard of the new trilogy, they are going back to basics and looking to replicate the original trilogies art direction - I wish this were true of SW Rebels.
