Zack Snyder Is Still Adamant He Will Make A "Dark Knight Returns" Movie...One Day!

MTV caught up with the "Watchmen" Director at Comic-Con, and he is still very much interested in making a movie out of Frank Miller's classic...

Snyder had previously mentioned that he would love to do a movie adaptation of TDKR on a couple of separate occasions, and here he is talking about it again! Could this one day be a reality?

Of course Snyder's biggest problem with bringing the tale of an older Batman returning from retirement to take down Harvey Dent, The Joker and a violent gang called “The Mutants", is that the Bat franchise is in the very capable hands of Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale(we hope at any rate!)..But Snyder has a very simple solution. He'll Wait!

“Frank’s ‘Dark Knight’ is a 50-year-old Batman,” explained Snyder, “The reality is that Batman, as a franchise at Warner Brothers, is doing pretty good; people have heard of it.”

“They love that Bat guy. And Heath — amazing,” admitted Snyder. “And Chris is killing it to death.”

Still, Snyder insisted, when he thinks about the movies he really wants to make before he retires, TDKR is top of the list..

“So for me, I’ll probably be in my twilight years directing one movie every now and then — made-for-TV movies and stuff like that,” laughed the 43-year-old filmmaker, imagining a time about two decades from now. “And I then will have a chance, maybe.”

“It will be only 20 years from now, and it’ll be Christian Bale in his 50s,” Snyder said of his dream scenario. “And by then, Chris will be over it and I’ll roll up and be like, ‘Let’s make a ‘Dark Knight’ movie!’”

“A scenario like that is probably the only way I could see it happening,” added Snyder, who is currently hard at work on pre-production of the ass-kicking-girls action flick “Sucker Punch.” “[But Bale] would be tired of it, I’m sure.”

Frank Miller. They should have the story line where Kingpin systematically destroys Daredevils life. Daredevil vol#1 in the 220's. But three movies show daredevil get his revenge. Do a quick 2 minute origin. Nothing big. But I would love to see that storyline. Also, have Daredevil meet with Elektra again.

Batman is DC's BREAD AND BUTTER. But people will start getting sick of it. They need to start doing other characters...what's going on with the Green Lantern?

SCORP @ They will anyway do the trilogy first with or without NOLAN. Hope he don't get scared an runs!

I know Ledger passed on. But if your story was all around this particular actor as the joker in part 3
then that does create a problem. But now if he can't have a vision for the next one..maybe while taking the time whatever he's doing...and think about part 3

Let's hope Keaton holds up another 5 years! He's looking like an old pair of Chuck Taylors.

This should be the next Bat Film, He should make it as a stand-alone film. And if it is as good as TDK then replace Nolan,I know he's the best but 2013 for the next batman movie is way too long.Or DC can tone it down a little and make an animated movie of it.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD!

hahah! Nerds rule!

Yeah no Keaton, he was a decent Bats but he ain't no DKR Bats(see it happens to all of us gtrman). Someone like Jeffrey Dean Morgan could pull it off..at the beggining of Watchmen when he was all aged up he reminded me a bit of Miller Bats.

Ror - JDM I might see, but only if he started SERIOUS power-lifting and (how shall I put this?) taking his 'vitamins' (if you know what I mean). Remember, DKR Batman is RIPPED (...and so is Supes). And they HAVE to have Supes and GA in it, or it wouldn't be DKN! I can understand 'interpretations' and 'creative license', but as far as this goes, NO COMPROMISES! DKN (ALL OF IT!) or NOTHING AT ALL!

Miller would be a great add to the Daredevil reboot (as long as he stays away from the camera!) - can you say 'creative consultant'. Of course, I still don't understand the need for a 'reboot' at all. I for one enjoyed the first and LOVED the director's cut.

I could care less asto who directs the next Batman flick, they just need to cut Christian "BullShit" Bale loose. He aint bad as Bruce Wayne however, when he is Batman and does his voice it sounds like "nails on a chalk board!" Yes, its that anoying! As for Dare Devil, I liked it. It was a cool movie and there is no need for a reboot. A sequel is well over do. Ben needs to stop knockin Jen up so they can start filming it.
